gadwall8
It sounds as if this major winter weather event is for real with many of us in for 12"- 24" of snow. Are you ready? I'm going out to gas up the truck and fill up another 5gal can for the generator. I'll stack some firewood in the garage and have the wood stove ready to fire up. The propane camp stove and fuel are ready and the gas grill has at least half a tank. I put an new mantle on my multi-fuel lantern. As always, there's plenty of food, water, booze, tobacco, coffee, flashlights, radios, and ammo. Laptop and cell phone are plugged in and if the generator fails, they will be powered down or placed on airplane mode. What do YOU do? "I came into this world naked, screaming at the top of my lungs, and covered in someone else's blood. I got no problem leaving it that way."Who can hope to be safe? Who sufficiently cautious? Guard himself as he may, every moment's an ambush. Horace

Wayne Tj
Don't forget to get more ammo - you never know. BTW, there's a "Lotsa Snow" thread where we are discussing the same. jrhjr
The gentleman affectionately known as "Dingy" was found frozen dead this morning in his garage. This after digging through MONUMENTAL amounts of drifting snow some two weeks after "The Big Event" Scrawled into the frost on the inside of his windshield (apparently with his toenails after they had fallen out due to frostbite) were the words... "I should have listened to Balls" This "Balls" person is yet to be located. powerless
NJTomatoguy
just left the grocery story. Plenty of everything. battery lantern, flashlights, etc. All good 3/4 tank of gas in the truck. Cell phone #1 charged. Smartphone, so will have internet. Backup cell charging now. add a line, of my parents business line, worked during sandy when others did not. tobacco is a funny one. I quit Dec 10. Switched to Vape. got +/- 50 Ml of juice, but still panicking and was already at the vape shop. they don't open untill 11. Both vape units will be charged tonight, and probably pop for the $40 battery that i really want. 5 coils for the main unit, 3 for the backup. good there. Library sent e-mail notice that i am overdue, so will hit that today also. Just finishing Blue Highways, by William least Heat - Moon, suggested here in the reading thread. Booze- For me, been doing ok without that for a few 24's... have to hustle and do a load of laundry, low on clean clothes... 50 + lbs of dog chow. Gas fireplace heats downstairs good, and upstairs ok gas grill- full tank. changed it out last weekend. Stove in this house works without electric. New stove, so cannot use oven, but can use burners. My biggest concerns are vape juice and coffee. may swing by the bed-bath-beyond and pick up the aeropress. Bad coffee during hurricane sandy sucked. Baking a huge ham today, so plenty of leftovers for sandwiches, omelettes, etc. Bring it on....

Surffishinfiend
I never really prepare for snow storms. I've got bourbon, a wood stove, and a full tank on the bbq. I'm good. Lagerhead
Bullets. I need more bullets. I love when we make way past the breakwater at first light and head out, there's nothing better, the whole rest of the world just melts away for me. Terry Mac
The weather bitches are saying 12 + - Today i plan on hitting the gym then spray-wash all the prior salt off the suv. Think i will put the shovel inside the garage door on the way back inside. The village, which had stood for maybe 1,000 years, didn't know we were coming that day. If they had, they would have run. boB was at the eye of our rage. And through him, our Captain Ahab. He would set things right again. That day, we loved him.
