What looks good to you?

I have an unexplainable soft spot for the 1903/1907 Colts.... Now Colt is making them again!

I don't know anything except the photo :squid:

I'd prefer regular Blued over the Parkerized finish, but I'm glad to see the venerable old handgun back.

I just hope that the Colt quality control is up to snuff.

Me, I'm intriqued by Ruger's new SR1911 with the aluminum frame. It is 7 oz. lighter than their stainless steel model. Sweet! :th:

Yes, Colt will be making brand new-production Model 1903 pocket pistols. The same man responsible for making Colt’s reproduction Gatling guns has been put in charge of producing a limited new run of the classic elegant pocket pistol, the Colt 1903. That’s the good news – the bad news is that it will only be a limited run of 2500. Of those, 500 will be commemorating the General Officers issue pistols. The US Army adopted the Colt 1908 (which is simply a 1903 chambered for the .380 cartridge) as the official issue sidearm for General-level officers, and they were issued to men like Eisenhower, Patton, and Bradley.

These new commemorative ones will be marked and finished like the original General’s issue guns, and each come with a historical fact sheet about one of the Generals who carried a 1908. Neat!

Now, the interesting question is what Colt will do with the tooling for these once the limited run sells out. Seems like a pretty big waste to me to put in the money to tool up and then stop…perhaps we will see the gun added to Colt’s standard product list down the road?

I should also mention that this will be a very different type of “re-introduction” than befell the Remington Model 51. Curt Wolf, the man running the project, is very much into historical arms, and his new 1903 will be identical to the original 1903 – no polymer, no big modern sights, no change in caliber, etc. That may be a disappointment to some, but it will be a relief to those of us who appreciate the svelte lines and elegant craftsmanship of the Colt 1903.

I wonder if the balance of guns will be blue? Carbona (Carbonia) blue would be beautiful but, would likely push the price up to 2k or more.

The aluminum frames have an integral titanium feed ramp so that the noses of FMJ bullets cannot deform it.

The feed ramp is literally b-u-l-l-e-t-p-r-o-o-f.

I wonder if Colt will actually make it. Currently they only make the 1911 and AR. The other guns they sell are made by others. Their 1911 .22lr "Colt" Gold Cup is made by Walther. Remember the third generation Colt SAA's and 2nd generation black powder pistols were made by others (eg. Uberti) and the parts imported then fit & finished by Colt so they din't have to put the foreign maker's name on them.

As long as Colt doesn't farm the work out to Remington, (the R51 pistol was a frigging disaster!), it should all be gravy!

I'm glad I own the Colt's that I do. I've a Match Colt A-2 H-Bar, and two 45's; a Series 70 brushed nickel Gov't Model, (with a Colt 22 Ace conversion unit), and a Series 80 Lightweight Officers Model.

One of my greatest regrets gun purchasing wise, was my failure to grab a Colt Python in .357 Magnum, when I had the chance. Stupid, stupid, stupid! :banghd:

Totally agree on all the crap Remington has been making for some years now. I am simply amazed by the horrific drop in quality...even in the guns they import. As for Pythons, I have had 6 of them all nickle plated and 3 with the factory trigger job. Naturally, I sold them all before the upward price explosion. But I did so because I could not get a set of grips that made the gun fit me. Now those original grips are worth $300 and a box adds $300-500 to the value. Good grief.

You would be amazed to hear who cuts their AR stuff.
