Angler #1
is getting sacrificial sand to help get it through the winter months storms, part of the beach sand has been taken away in sufficient quantities that they are very concerned about losing any more sand to storms. They may start to use the tube method to hold the beach together, but for now it is just being trucked onto the beach and spread. Angler #1
Chuck I believe that eventually every beach on the cape will be undergoing some physical changes to the shore lines from not only storm damage, but from the rising sea water from all of the ice melting going on. Angler #1
I have seen documentaries about the Polar caps and how the Ice flows are being reduced by the weather conditions and melting away , which ultimately raise the sea levels . The level of the water has risen along many of the beaches around the world and some where it was written how much was lost on just the Cape beaches each year . One can expect if the water continues to rise that some beaches may well be lost forever , some time in the future. Fiske27
Cape Cod Has taken many hits over the years,I am not as knowledgable as Angler #1 .but in my time @ CC seen may storms take alot of our coast away. Wellfleet,Eastham,Chatham, storms early 90's. Bay side Dennis,Barnstable,Sandwich, over time. Got to watch Mother Nature,You Cant Change her,Just keep her @ bay. Angler #1
Fiske for sure Mother nature wins all of the battles along our coast line, sooner or later. We can as humans find new ways to slow it all down . I think the process of the matted rolls that are being used along many coast lines at present may be just the thing to slow it down a little more, but eventually Nature will win out. Â Restoring and replacing sand along the most vulnerable beach fronts is paramount to sustaining any long term gain in this process. As long as sand keeps shifting , some places gain and some lose. If man can make a difference to help keep it stable then that is what it should do in my opinion. After all it is man that has created the problem Life member M.B.B.A #509 Life member Izaak Walton Fishing Association Life member Cape Cod Canal

Angler #1
Matt only if you believe in the theory of green house gas, has a negative affect on the polar cap For what ever reason the cap seems to be disappearing more each year and how would you help to explain the reasons from your understanding ? Fiske27
???? Man created the problem ? Agree, look how many Jetties where built down any coast line ,just to give a Housing/summer area a Beach,Like Angler said,"some places gain and some lose. Ebb & flow are natural, throw a barrier into the mix & changes that. Not saying it is good or bad, just saying. Lobster Troll #2, Ditch Guy
