40shades-of-blue
Pretty simple really. It's worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. Just like anything else that has low supply and high demand. “All the gods, all the heavens, all the hells, are within you.”

There's a plastic needle that is less than half the price and blows that D-mag away... Just sayin' But if you want to spend a butt load of money on something to show it off then....... Fergal
You're confusing 'worth' and "value'.... Anyway, same could be said for G2, GRS, Lefty, etc... Jersey Salt
Supply and demand. If you don't wanna pay secondary market prices get up at 3 am and wait in line for a chance to buy. Been there done that. btw the quality on all his plugs is top notch. My pencil has been fished half a dozen times and looks almost new. I have had other builders plugs. show hook swing after one use. Lmao The builders aren't charging those prices, its the secondary market. Dmag needle is $30, ~same as a BM. The other jersey plugs were $20-30 when bought from the builders. Pistol Pete
Internet hype and prices artificially bloated by demand. A demand mainly driven by guys who spend more time buying gear than fishing. Im not saying its not a quality plug, but not any better than the next. Its the cool plug to have ( for guys that care about having the cool plug) * yaaaaaaaaaawn....

Icepants
There is no good reason except supply and demand. There is a collector's demand for this brand and some of these collectors have deep pockets. They don't seem to care if they are grossly over paying. I guess it's just like stamp collecting but they get to stroke their plugs every night before going to bed. So with limited supply and high demand the price goes up. I have gotten to plug shows super early with being number 11 inline and have never scored on what I wanted. The collectors/resellers act as a pack, One guy goes to one builder another goes to another builder and they gobble up the stock in a matter of minutes. Is it fair? No but that's way the game is played. If you go by yourself, you don't stand a chance on certain builders regardless. So if you don't want to wait inline at the shows, have deep pockets and don't mind over paying you take the auction route. However there is also good news there are many great builders that make fish catching plugs at normal prices. The finish is very good and as is the action. The actual airbrushing is very real looking but may not be up to level of art work as some builders put out. It's all in what you want art work or a good fish catcher. Jersey Salt
Who cares that the plug has scratches and scuffs??? Really you're gonna pay a stupid amount of money because if that?? Nope. I got in line at 4 am and payed 25 bucks. Local b&t charges 19.95 for the SS plus tax. I also bought a pencil. 30 bucks. Ended up trading the needle for a cyclone swimmer. That is how it's played. Or just spend stupid secondary market prices. When I see plugs going for that kinda dough, I smfh too buddy.
