Striper46
I have some long fin from a trip. Can it be eaten raw and is it good? Some people Say its not really a good tasting tuna and really only makes good tuna fish salad. I have this fish in my frig now and when I cleaned it, it really didn't look that appetizing. Thanks!! paxriver
My oo2 cents: long fin albacore ( white meat tuna) excellent fish for sushi , blackened rare on salad all around great fare. False albacore (also has long fin) terrible, llot of blood and dark meat .
JTSurf
Ive had no problem cooking long fin. It is usually canned up in mason jars though. I have also had it slow cooked for a long time in a red sauce, and that was good as well. If searing, likie all tuna just dont overcook it. BrianBM
True (longfin) albacore is fine, and the only tuna that can be labeled "white meat" tuna.

albacized
Also, if you ever eat Starkist, Bumble Bee or other canned tuna, most likely you've had albacore (true longfin) tuna. I have seen some cans of yellow fin, but by far, albacore is the most common tuna in these cans
