bb1
I usually anticipate Oct canal fishing all year, but this year I switched my vehicle over to fresh water much earlier. It's just not worth it any more w/ gas so high and mung all over the longer Cape drives. So I tried Washucett yesterday about 5pm on. Just about a disaster their too. The water is so high it's hard to even get to normal spots....to walk around it's one foot in the water many places! I did manage to get to a couple deep holes, no hits & my spoon came back luke warm! And with more rain coming it's only going to get higher!!! I may try my UL by the rivers next time. But the high water makes effectively fishing that difficult (or impossible) too. "The Further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." Skitter
bb1 do you ever fish Quabog, river, or South pond from shore? (*member formerly known as 'Skitterpop')

Skitter
I only fished the connecting river (may be wrong about that) over 40 years ago from shore with minimal success. Heard there are some nice fish from Pike brown trout bass rainbows around that area. (*member formerly known as 'Skitterpop')

It's all part of a Machiavellian plot hatched by the DCR to discourage fishing on Wachusett. The Sultan of Sluggo

bb1
We've had the worst drought in decades. They're deliberately holding the water back. Sounds about right....whatever happens in California, Massachusetts reacts! Eastern MA had a very mild drought condition, while western MA and most of New England had no drought conditions at all. Skitter
We had drought conditions in very southern NH Aug & Sept Also read here in various forums of low water conditions for much of the east coast for those months... Wachusett should start releasing more water soon I suspect. (*member formerly known as 'Skitterpop')

Wachusett should start releasing more water soon I suspect. US Drought Monitor shows only 'DO - abnormally dry' in a very small sliver of southern NH....and just about no drought areas on the entire Eastern Seaboard. 'D1- moderate drought' in parts of south east MA, RI & CT. Nothing to even really mention east of the Mississippi. "The Further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." Skitter
Hmmmm Maybe they don't consider low water conditions as a Drought category? Wonder why Wachusett held so much water back? bb1
Wonder why Wachusett held so much water back? Like I said, Massachusetts reacts to anything happening in wacko California. I'm not kidding, that's how Massachusetts got CA emissions cars (although we don't have the same problem as Cali). So, Cali has a bad drought, MA saves water....as loony as that sounds. As an example bob-G thinks Massachusetts is having the "worse drought in decades" !!! Its all just the usual knee-jerk reaction from the people in charge here in MA....logic & reality have no place to reside. Richard_the_Aughth
I don't think these are stocked trout as they are decently fat. From what I've seen stocked trout are n not that big. I am catching them on Thomas buoyant spoons, 1/4 oz. I never hear of anyone else talking about or using these lures but I swear by them
