Plug bags review question

I both like and dislike people who begin their Christmas shopping now. My gosh, it's only the beginning of October. That being said, I am now looking at plug bags to give my suggestion.

I over pack when surf fishing. Why, because I am not skilled enough to know what to bring. I have every situation covered I can think of and that is too much. Most of the items I never bring are never used.

I am considering three bags:

1. Shimano BWVSB250 Bluewave Surf Bag - small

2. Shimano BWVSB250 Bluewave Surf Bag - medium

3. AquaSkinz Small "Tall" Lure Bag

I like the Shimano bag a lot for the bucktail access and set up so I am leaning towards one of these. I am don't need a water bottle holder on the small tall but like I can fit different sized plugs.

Is there a big difference between the Shimano small and medium bag other than the 2" in height?

I'd be interested to hear what people here think who pack for similar conditions that I do in NJ.

I dont use those bags but given your packing style i would suggest the tall as the height helps with large medal lips and needles.

That makes sense but I am making a concentrated effort to scale back on what I bring.

I am only going to bring a limited amount. Probably just a few tins, few bucktails, few plugs, maybe a few shad. Wow, that sounds like a lot still. :D

I use a bluewave medium that I got from BST here and love it. My only gripe is the tubes/squares it comes with are somewhat heavy

Was bored this morning and thought the same thing. Inserts make the bag heavy. Thought about it and cut two 2 liter soda bottles. Perfect fit and makes the bag more flexible as they are a bit stiff. Im able to fit plenty of plugs if not more of them.

Does it make the bag too heavy to use just a belt?

I use the belt it comes with as a shoulder strap and a 4 dollar belt from home depot for my waist. I load the bag (I'll post a pic in a few of whats in my bag) and when I added the second strap it made a world of the difference on my back and shoulders. If you don't load the bag up you would probably be ok with using just the supplied belt, if you fill it up you cannot.

Might not be a bad idea, I would be interested see how you make out after walking around and throwing the bag around a bit. plugs might get all tangled up.

I have the medium blue wave as well. I'm pretty happy with it and have no intention of changing it out any time soon. However, I have no basis for comparison being this is my first plug bag. It is a little on the heavy side though.

I too pack everything I can in that bag though. It holds quite a bit.

Sheisty ill let u know. You may a point but it seems these high end bags use round tubes as well. Im thinking your thought is how wide the soda bottles are giving the plugs room to swing. I agree but im goig to give it a go. Also the flexibility this method gives is pretty interesting. It no longer feels like a box on my waste. Overall nice bag.

Scally let me know what the word is for the AM. Im going to the rutgers game now.

Yea, that was exactly what I was thinking the size of the tubes. But perhaps a 1 liter or 20 oz size could resolve that. That's exactly what it feels like, a box lol but the second belt helped out a lot, I can walk fully loaded and not be a problem, I just don't like hopping rocks fully loaded.

Nova better not screw up!

I was at Walmart and they were clearancing these Duck Dynasty tall plastic tumblers for $1. I bought a couple and used goof off to wipe of the Duck Dynasty image and use them in my current page for sluggos, and other tall soft plastics and it works great. i like the tumblers better than the water bottle I was using as it seems the Deer Park bottle gets brittle.

I still can't believe Rutgers is favored by 4. The Penn State loss still makes me think the team isn't as good as people think.

They aren't but michigan is in shambles at the moment. Rutgers is just Rutgers lol

I had to google a tumbler lol Its a tall cup. Got it lol

Another tip on the blue wave don't waste your time trying to hook most of your plugs in the slots on the sleeve inserts, just hang them by the hook on the top.

Sorry, I called it a cup but the woman called it a tumbler. Not wanting to be on the peopleofwalmart website, I took her name correction and left.
