Lucky
Ooooofa "Lucky" is a fictional character on the interwebs. Nothing "Lucky" says or does can be or should be construed as a real thought by an actual person. Objects in your rear view mirror may appear to be closer than they actually are. RedJeep
Missed his chance to be an organ donor. Do you think he learned a lesson? RiverRaider
I can think of far worse injuries that can be sustained as the result of not wearing a helmet... kid was very very lucky that's all that happened A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices. – William James
ccasazza
Like the old saying goes, if you think you don't need a helmet, you are probably right.

S J Fish
I live in New Hampshire which doesn't require a helmet. I love the almost automatic "I don't want to live if I get into an accident" response I get from almost everyone I ask about riding without a helmet..... And I know the first thing that goes through their head as they are sailing over their bars at 50 is..."I wish I had a helmet".........

Dear TLDig, Is he your nephew? I recall a pic you posted of a young feller wearing (I think) a cowboy hat and belt w/ a big buckle. The injured motorcyclist looks like that feller. Shaky86
I think helmets like seatbelts should be a personal choice. That said when I did ride I always had helmet on pretty sure it saved me from splitting my wig open when I did go down.

jrhjr
My cousin's a neurologist... in Easton, MD between Baltimore/Washington and the Beaches. Used to not be a helmet law in MD, but there's still lots of folks on bikes. He's had to tell many families that their sons will never be the same again. Those that survive. Hope your boy's going to be OK... powerless
