ASrod
I have been using just about every lure I can think of. The absolute most productive lure I have used is the Rapala f-11 Original floater in silver. I think it's 4-1/2 inch. I changed the factory hooks and split rings to VMC 9626 #6 and dropped the belly hook and Owner Hyperwire 50lb and every single cast I get a keeper. The action is pretty similar to the Bomber Long a but since the stripers and blues are only around 20+ inches the bomber long a is too big. I HIGHLY recommend this lure! Since its only about 1/4 ounce I can't get much cast distance from the surf... I'll try to add a picture soon... If you can dream it, I can meme it. MorningWood
How are you getting keepers every cast if the stripers are only 20 inches? MorningWood(*member formerly know as 'kevnmary')
ASrod
In Maryland 18 inch is keeper. I'll get a picture up in a little while. If you can dream it, I can meme it.
ASrod
A look at the lure and hooks. You can see the scratches from bluefish teeth. I also crushed the barbs on the trebles. If you can dream it, I can meme it.

I call BS! Those scratches are not from bluefish teeth...they are obviously from massive white perch strikes! sytheteacher
In Brooklyn  in Jamaica Bay using a one ounce diamond gig with a single long shank 5/0 hook covered with yellow surgical tubing I am catching cocktail blue fish. They are about fifteen to twenty inches long. I watch for the bait fish breaking water and cast into the commotion.  Nice fight on a nine foot light action rod. During the summer, until two days ago I was using this jig for fluke. The jig is attached to a one foot piece of twenty pound test steel leader. Having a great time on a light drag. Bigred77
My go to lure for striped bass is a rapala xrw-13 plug. It walks the dog on the top and is very effective. Â The glass ghost is the best color and I just heard rumblings that they are going to stop production so try to scoop some quick. Â
