scottyrich
My zb 27 was leaking a fine oil the other day out of the seal that surrounds the threads that the handle screws onto the body. Has anyone else had this issue and is it a major issue if I keep useing reel if I don't drunk it. Don't want to have to send it back to ZB and have it at their service center for the rest of the fall. Please all input. Even the guys that are going to call me an idiot for not sending it right away.
bospa357
Yes it can and will happen. It wouldn't be at the factory the rest of the fall. You'd probably have it back within a week at the most. If you're really worried about it, you're welcome to come by my place this week and I'll pop a seal in it while you wait. Matador
You can still use it, one of the o-rings is letting oil out... I was told the o-ring still capable of protecting the reel from any water intrusion. Same thing happened to me, I just sent it during the winter for maintenance and all was well. Hey bud that would be sweet. Send me a pm and we can work something out was looking online and was going to order kit but this will be the best solution as im sending reel in for complete over haul after the fall run anyways. DeepWaters
I had a problem with mine last month. The bottom half of the spool came loose and backed off enough to let water in. The big o ring seal was swollen or something and I couldn't get it to seat right. Make a long story short, I sent it in, I had it back in less that 48 hours. They serviced the whole reel, or at least looked over the whole thing, and I just paid shipping one way. Awesome amazing service from those guys down there “The Black Flag comes in many colors” M. Two day turn around. It's never taken any longer than that any time I've sent one in. The best customer service.

emptyhook
They make them easy to open. Water does get in. You want to open them up every now and then. First inspect the grease or oil. The color will let you know if there is water intrusion. You can look to the pinion and main for normal wear ect ect. You might have oil in you. They recommend gear oil if you swim. So if you open it keep it on it's side. You might see a problem you can easily fix. If not they say it's 72hr turn around time.
