Bassslayer92
I just have to put out a public service announcement for the news guys fishing Montauk this year. I haven't posted in a while but after this past weekend I had to make a post. The amount of guys I saw fishing this weekend with their head lamps on was outstanding. Guys if your uncomfortable fishing at night then don't fish at night with your head lamps on it ruins it for the other guys out there its as simple as that. I use my light as little as possible to save my night eyes so I don't have to rely on a light, and when I do use a light I usually use a red one so i don't lose my night vision. If your uncomfortable or leery of fishing at night go to a beach you know very well during the day and cast with your eyes shut. thats how i learned when i was 8. This is the only way your going to get use to fishing without a light. I hope people see this so Montauk doesn't look like the city this season............that is all Korkers save lives wear themA bad day of fishing is better than a good day at school
Lloyd Christmas
Not just there head lamps. Some sweet heart in a red jeep came in the lot with the most obnoxious light on that lit up the entire lot. Nobody gives a **** about your light. Stop blinding people. It's a parking lot not the outback. Let the big girls go
Bassslayer92
ya that as well, but thats something else. When I'm on the beach or parking lot at night my running lights and fog lights are on. My regular driving lights are off. Yea +1 that's one thing that pisses me off guys come in and do laps around the parking lot with there brights on for no reason at all sucks when your trying to catch a couple z's between tides or the idiots that back in to use the can and leave truck running with lights on...and don't even get me started on the guys dragging their corkers around at all hours of the night

I can understand as they can be taken off. But what about guys who have boots on, or studs into their wader boot. Kind of hard to take them off. The noise of some one walking never bothered me. Now if you're going to bitch about the people drinking having a party all night, that I can bitch about. I also complain about the raccoons turning over the garbage cans but they never listen. As far as the lights in the lot yeah problem almost as bad as those that race in and out to see who is fishing. Lights out on the rocks, well some people are night blind and some peoples eyes are not what they were and maybe they want to walk and not break a leg. As long as they don't shine the light your way don't worry, ain't going to scare the fish..
Iannotti
Honestly..Thats all nonsense.....The **** pisses me off is dudes posting comments on Facebook about WHERE they are catching fish in MTK including where they were parked... I've been having a nice few nights with nobody around..The first time in nearly 2 weeks... and want to keep it that way.. Agree with those lights..I seen like a grp of 6 or 7 dudes Sunday night..dunno if they even spoke english? wandering in far away lands with there fuc**** headlamps blazing...Somebody opened there mouth about where they were fishing I bet...Because what I saw did not look normal for that area. Rich5294p
Look at turtle cove at night. They bring lanterns. Almost looks like daytime down there on a new moon night.

Billwetzel
People with their lights on really do not bother me, as long as they are not fishing with it on. if you are on the south side rocks I do not believe in general a white light is going to spook fish. North side on a quiet night- different story. Personally I want the sun when I turn on my light. I have broken my ribs twice and think I have a floating chip in my elbow, and have several hooks in me from the Montauk rocks. I have learned the hard way that I need to see. If I am working the suds I need a bright white light, the red just does not do it for me. Through the year the guys unhooking fish, on the rocks, on new moons with no lights is honestly impressive, but more times then not after one or two hooks through the suit in the leg, forhead, eye, or a broken bone or two things change for them. So you don't even know, but you still felt it necessary for you to add the racial comment to your post right? I don't know who is more ignorant, those guys for not turning their lights off or you... wait... I do know, YOU win that by a mile stretch. There is nothing racial about saying somebody doesn't speak english ... You're watching to much Sharpton on TV... FYI- Speaking English has little to do with "RACE" .... DUH! magikbbg
Not montauk but the same annoyance ... I was facing beach and this man had to keep his SUV lights on parallel to the shore for a good 30 minutes before he left. I did notice not a tap during that time (I was catching consistently before) and 30 minutes after he left the bites started up again. It might be anecdotal ... But it's proof to me that bright lights kill bite. But he was with a group of 8 I was alone - I wasn't gonna get beat up. People have no courtesy - only think about themselves . Especially worse when they know it's wrong.
