2014 September Freshwater Fishing Report

Same rules as always: Report as little or as much as you wish but no "spot burning" for private freshwater areas that have limited access. I do not think it is a problem posting a report naming lakes like Round Valley, Lake Hopatcong or any of the other large lakes that can accommodate large groups of fishermen. But, once again, giving specific locations in those lakes is considered spot burning. If there is something reported that you do not agree with or consider a spot burn, report the post. Do not further burn the spot by quoting a spot burn. The theme will be learning how to catch fish, not where to fish.

My name is Terry and I am a fisherman!

Only had time to fish 3:30-6:30 this afternoon. Terrible time with all the Labor Day water activities going on around me. All my good spots were taken up by swimmers around anchored pontoons, water skiers, yakkers, and recreational boaters. Also it was hot and uncomfortably muggy. :(

Strong reminder why I fish nights and the wee hours of the mornings during the summer.

Still managed to scrounge up 3 keeper largies and two medium-sized pickerels.

Starting out this September riding the success of August.

Landed a 36in long flathead with a 26in girth on the 1st (along with a couple 20inchers) and landed a 39in flathead with a 21in girth today. I didn't stay out for any night fishing, the fish came during day light, but I should have stayed out for the prime time hours.

Still trying to crack that 40in mark this year, it hasn't been easy. LOL.

Really nice walleye Skunk.

No skunk for you.

I tried fishing one of the Susquehanna tribs on Monday and had recreational kayakers, swimmers, and holiday wet wading fishers brigade issues. Caught about 20 small to medium smallmouth and my biggest was about a 15". Saw some bigger ones, but they had their radar up with all the activity on the river.

The kids are back in school and it is time to fish.

"The kids are back in school and it is time to fish" Amen to that Jay. Not just the kids but the recreational kayakers, sailboats, paddle boards, etc... will all "almost" disappear now that Labor Day is behind us. Sept gets better but anglers will once again own the water in Oct/Nov :)
