Decided to take a break from wreck fishing today and headed out for a mudhole troll looking for dolphin, bonita, and maybe an oddball rat bluefin. Ocean was real dumpy in the morning with 3-5ers stacked tight. Started trolling at 10 off at the oil and worked southeast toward the arunda hitting the pots in between. Caught one nice mahi around ten lbs and a few small peanuts that I let go. That was it in that area, except for when all four rods started screaming at the same time, turned out they were 8-10lb false albies. Ocean laid down nice so pulled them up and headed to the monster and put out a few tuna lures, but nothing to show for it, except one chicken mahi. Couldn't help myself and decided to hit a close by wreck in 150 hoping for a cod or two, but came up empty, except for some slammer bergalls. Left that and resumed trolling and headed a little inshore to the slough and little italy areas. Trolled over the lump and three rods get hit but they all miss and i get zero. I think they were bonita. Trolled back over it four times and not even another knockdown. Trolled around the area a little longer and found a nice looking slick with a small weedline. Pulled four nice dolphin in the low to mid teens out of here in an hour an had at least 4 other knockdowns that didn't come tight. Started to get late and we decided to head to the barn. Ended the day with 6 dolphin that I kept, with five of them over 10lbs. Had 5-6 peanuts that I let go plus the albies. Not a bad day, quality over quantity today.
