23mako
Has anyone made a rod for a small child that is light and short enough to easily handle by a small child but is strong enough to use trolling for big bass Bluefish, and Bonita. My son is a fishing machine and I want to get him a setup that fits him perfectly. He is currently using a pen slammer and a 3500 baitrunner but it is way too big of a setup for him. Any Recomendations?
BlueChip
Just got a CRB from mudhole in Lime green. they make some blanks that are in the 20-30 dollar range that would be great for kids. SurffisherMike
look at a lami, nice slow action for a kid or the rodgeeks sglass, you can cut the up pretty good to get youre desired rod. the rodgeek sglass is 7'9" and you can cut a few inches of the top. its a slow action with a soft tip but has a bit of carbon in the butt so that I shuts down around the stripper guide pretty good. The pic at the bottom of this thread is a rod geeks s glass with 6" off the but and 3" off the tip. for what you are doing I would cut a little more off the tip and not cut the butt. that's a 12 lb blue on the rod. Billy40 may have some of the rod geeks in stock http://www.stripersonline.com/t/950209/st-croix-blanks#post_11532773

BlueChip
I know I am cheap but I would be hesitant to give a kid a 100 dollar rod.... ie 50 for blank and another 50 for components... 1973 Mako
makorider
I'll second the CRB blanks. I used them for both my daughters. Very nice blanks for the price, and I figured I wouldn't stroke out when the inevitable happens...

jawjackn
being it's a basically a learning rod, I'd go lamiglass , inexpensive, durable, somewhat forgiving
