Mike Oliver
Last Oct we had a get together it started life as a TH event for reasonably experienced two hand Guys as Montauk takes no prisoners in the fall but single hand Fly Rodders took part as well so why not again. Last years was a bit of a hoot and we even caught fish. Some day between 16th and 29th Oct. Thinking of one day maybe two. We could either do a pre-dawn and morning session like last year or a dusk and into the night for a change. We can agree a date later once it is established that there is interest. Being sensible this would not suit raw new Guys you need a few hours under your belt to get the best out of Montauk or it will take the worse out of you. Mike Oliver
Good. That's three of us and an excellent start. Must say the coffee and doughnuts at the 24 hour 7/11 were pretty welcome last year after a cold and fishless dawn start. Mike

Mike Oliver
lisurfer49 Why just watch when you can participate to. This is an easy going bunch of Guys. If you don't feel 100% with the TH use your SH about 1/3 of the Guys fished SH rods. JohnP out fished the rest of us with his SH. Just get stuck in. Oakman
I am clearing my week ends out for October. I vote both. Dawn to Dawn, sleep when you need too. Spread out and cover ground. Fish hard. If you have to take a nap on the sand or rocks, we won't leave you behind. O
Mike Oliver
Yeah thats what i meant, fish and observe. Maybe sneak a few pointers off you guys if i make it to this Nothing like a bit of pressure then. Not sure what pointers we can offer you. No holes in line trays. and if rigged eel makes it a ton of laughs as he is as crazy as me now he has gotten into wet suiting. Come along if you can we had a blast last year real good bunch of Guys, there was about seven of us if I recall correctly. Once we have a few names we can sort out dates that suit the majority. I am pretty flexible as I am ensconced in M for about 18 days with nothing to do except fish every day/night. Mike

Ok in my stage of advanced old age I may need two ten minute naps so its up to the individuals but we could go for the 24 hour slog. Good eating places open at 06:00 as in Bake Shoppe on the Ring for breakie, special breakie if ordered before 10:00am and the 24 hour 7/11 is very good for filling up on both junk food and decent stuff like sarnies and fresh fruit and good coffee. You New Yorker types need to get best value for your long drive out so I do have sympathy for that. Albieaddict has an even longer drive but he is desperately young and fit. Looks like it might be fun already. Mike

Mike Oliver
Bucktail Pete, New to fly fishing but not new to Montauk so you know what to expect so no probs you know the score. You will need to bring along a 10 wt SH as your go to rod and an intermediate line and very fast sink will do you fine. Intermediate for the bouldery and reefy ground and sometimes on the South Side Sand Beaches with the fast sink line your go to for the surf beaches. WF line profiles are better at defeating wind. SH type lines are very poor. So of you have WF fly lines bring them and a line tray is a must. You will get wet we all will get wet. Mike
