Islander80
Any one know anything about these new reels? I found it on tackle direct and it says they will be out this month. The specs look good and it has a Dura-Aluminum main gear.

Shipwreck
Any one know anything about these new reels? I found it on tackle direct and it says they will be out this month. The specs look good and it has a Dura-Aluminum main gear. Its actually not really a new reel. Its a throwback to the old Emblem Pro's Great long distance casting reel and they took care of the handle issue the old ones had. Its a battlewagon and like I said casts all the way to England. BrianBM
The original Emblem Pros were very decent reels and a superb value for the price. Heavy users, at the CCC in particular, could kill them in a hurry, with the handle going first and the limits of the gear trains showing up next. Are the gears upgraded from the original too? lureman
Brian, what i seen at the Canal, the older model, Emblem the gray colored model, is still in in great use at the Canal bye many, and seen to be catching large fish in current, didn;t see any handle issues A beach is a place where a man can feel, he's the only soul in the world thats real ; A jetty is a place where a man feels, he must have a bucket full of eels. rthomas
The handle on mine broke after two years. No problem. Replaced with a better handle. Reel still works great after five years. Why me?

Islander80
So what I am hearing is that the old emblem pros were a great reel and the new ones are the same reel with a better handle and better main gear. Sounds like a nice reel.

lureman
the old Emblem is far superior to the new ones, i don't like the word "Duro- Aluminum gears, A beach is a place where a man can feel, he's the only soul in the world thats real ; A jetty is a place where a man feels, he must have a bucket full of eels. Eagles Dare
I've got 3 of the old Emblem Pros. Great for plugging but not really suited for heavy jigging. With the spool at it's highest point it's a lot of pressure on the shaft when dragging 4 or 5 oz. of lead through the current. All 3 of mine still work but they definitely feel used and abused. Sent one of them back to Daiwa and it really didn't come back much better. I retired them to plugs only, and jig with a Stella and a Torque. I'll have mine on the rocks. Shipwreck
Def. not a jigging reel by any stretch. Looking into the gear and drive specifics. Stand by....
