shua22
go east.....I'm having much better luck at the east end of the Sound Up near middle ground or outside of woods I feel like the fluke are not around in numbers like last year
thunnus74
We did very well at middle ground two weeks ago. The current was ripping and we were drifting from the shallows into the deeper water towards woods hole. The drift was only a two hundred yards and then had to reset, we picked up fluke on every drift for three hours.
shua22
Near Lucas looked like a dead zone no boats at all on a great day ended up finding a rock pile in 70 ft slammed big sea bass and scup scup up to 17"
Angler #1
Generally during this time of the year when searching out large fluke we head out to the deeper waters where we need to use 10 to 12 ounces to keep it on the bottom as we drift along with the current . Working the edges of the deeper drop offs has its rewards and look for the trawl lines as a place to start. Just do not drift across them Then again small jigs, with big strips, dragged along the bottom also has its rewards. but that takes a little practice on covering the bottom you choose to fish on and a whole lot of line on the reel. shua22
Was out there again today did see one trawler out side of robinsons and one boat drifting in about 80 ft I only caught one keeper limited on 20+" sea bass and huge scup I'm bout to give up on fluke this year
SeaPro04
I was out at Lucas Shoals/Middle Ground on Sat and only managed one keeper but had our limit on big sea bass as well. I hear parts of RI are doing well, I might give that a try. Good luck.
jason colby
On last Thursday I had a group of people and we went to Lucas, Robinsons and Quicks for nothing! I later heard from a friend that spends a lot of time there that the draggers wiped the place clean a couple of days earlier! Since then I've fished close to Westport around Gooseberry and I have been finding limits of fluke there for my customers. The trick is finding a good drift and then repeating it as many times as time allows......JC

west tide
Got a lot of shorts and a three legal fish on Sunday. Worked very hard for not much. one thing that increased the bite substantially was when we added bluefish belly strips to our rigs. couldn't get any snapper blues that day so we started with squid strips...did ok. As soon as we switched to bellies the hookups were much more consistent. Of course by then, we were losing the tide and the wind was pushing us against it. Made the drift difficult
