DougH
I am hoping I can get some pointers for a place for dinner in Mystic tomorrow night. My old boss from back in college is in town with his wife and he dropped me a message. The guy is a big beer guy, and I want to choose a place with great food, but I wasn't looking for white table cloth type of fare. I only have been to places near old mystic village, and most of those are lunch type places that don't serve beer. Thank you in advance, you are always spot on with the recommendations! I like the food better at the S&P. Or you could bring them to Grill 37 or the Courthouse in Putnam. Closer to home. Spend all my free time on the boat searching for fish that don't count. DougH
Thanks for the recommendations, my friend decided on the Dog Watch. I will let you folks know how the food and service was. Is this place busy enough during the summer that a reservation would be a good idea?

DougH
Phone recording at their number states that they don't take reservations! So much for that. At least there is the bar to sit at while we wait!
DougH
Very good food, the Dog Pound out back was pretty cool. Our friends put their names down about a half hour before we arrived, and we ended up getting seated 30 minutes after we showed up. About a 1 hour wait. But there was tons of seating, the Dog Pound on the deck, and they just texted you when your table was ready so you didn't have to be constantly paying attention to hear your name being called. Big plus for that. Jenni got a margarita that was strong but tasty. Beer selection could have been better, too many IPA's, not enough local beer. I had some little necks on the half shell, we split wings, and fried oysters for the main course. All very good. The rest of the group had shrimp scampi, and two cubans. I will be back, it was a great place!
cabissi
Sound like it was a good time. The weekends have a much longer wait. Spend all my free time on the boat searching for fish that don't count.
