Bourne Police just posted the following:

Bell Rd parking lot is now closed. All vehicles remaining in the area will be towed starting promptly at 4PM. Traffic on Main St very heavy. Most parking lots in the area of Buzzards Bay Park are full. Most other roads moving freely at this time.

Why is Bell rd parking closed? Or is this a joke related to someone casting onto the Viking?

Guys are on the rr bridge right now getting it ready for tonight. Pretty cool to see the bridge go up with a dozen guys on it getting things ready. The tugboat parade was a dissapointment.

You mean the 4 mini tugboats :D, the night boat parade was pretty bad also from what I heard, hope the fireworks are more than 4 sparklers :D

The tourists are out in full force anyway

open borders :thdwn:

Thanks Mike but do you know WHY its closed?

According to the Events page for the celebration, the fireworks will be lit from a barge in Buzzards Bay, and there will also be pyrotechnics from the RR bridge. My guess is they don't want any cars/people too close to the RR bridge when the pyros go off.

"July 29. Centennial Fireworks display over the Railroad bridge in Bourne. If you can see the top of the railroad bridge from where you are you will see both the pyrotechnic display that will come off the bridge and the ones on the barges in Buzzards Bay."
