RichardMarinoJr
Sore Thumb beach has been a huge disappointment this year. Last year around this time my father and i were bringing keeper fluke home every day WHAT HAPPENED?? we got pretty excited since the size limit was dropped to 18' but we've only caught 1 19' keeper fluke off bunker. This slip gut is terrible it has been almost impossible to fish . I've been trying every Gulp curly tails Gulp Shrimp Squid Strips and Spearing but nothings working just a **** load of sea robins. If anybody has any new o advice please let us know because this has just been garbage. But hey im only 14 got the rest of my life too Fish - Tight Lines

CWitek
we got pretty excited since the size limit was dropped to 18' but we've only caught 1 19' keeper fluke off bunker. 2010 year class wasn't very good. They would be most of the 18-19 inch fish this year. The good news is the that 2011 and 2012 year classes were better, so if the limit remains at 18 inches, you should be seeing more legal fish next season. Chinook627
I've been putting in some serious effort on the backside of demo and along the rocks and have been getting mostly shorts from 12 to 16 inches but just about every trip yields a keeper fish or two usually at 18 on the dot or 18 1/2 which doesn't matter to me as I don't really like eating fluke so they all get released, but the south side has less of the slip gut and has better conditions for me so far
RichardMarinoJr
Thanks for the notice my father had gone out today said the slip gut was better but still pretty bad no fluke just 5 sea robins. unfortunately sea robins are taking over the beaches and then head out to gilgo not a bite

magikbbg
I always thought that was eel grass. The worst is that brown stuff that doesn't rip off.

qbny94
Was there two days ago... the eel grass is ridiculous. I hope the seaweed problem gets better. Tired of having 10 lbs of seaweed on my line instead of a fish.
ctab
I was there today. The seaweed, whatever that mass of green slime is, looks marginally better. At least the ones using plugs could cast and not have to remove it every cast. It seemed worst right by the rocks on the ocean side. It seemed much less further west, just a few hundred yards from the rocks there seemed to be MUCH lesson peoples lines. . At hide tide in the afternoon today, around 3:30 PM or so, one man caught a HUGE fluke on squid and spearing off the beach. I did not bother today as the kids just wanted to swim and I did not feel like, once again, removing sea weed every few casts.
magikbbg
I'm new to the 4x4 thing. At Gilgo it's a lot of surfers and at sore thumb it's a lot family trips. What's demo like ? I saw the 5-7 sign last time.
