Micodese
I gave it a little tug before making the loop and than I felt a pop. When I look for the problem I saw I thought it was odd. Has this happened to anyone before? Live for something or die for nothing. HateBreed

Micodese
It popped through the lip and stopped in the center adhere swivel goes. I was fortunate that I got it out without damaging the lure. Live for something or die for nothing. HateBreed

Jnski
Wire is too soft/malleable. Use 308L or 316L stainless TIG wire. It will be extremely difficult to have that happen again with the TIG wire.

Ed White
Was it a big surfster lip? They are the only lips I know of with a wider than nomal slot, I have to make larger loops in the wire to keep from pulling them through. "Can You Hear Me, Doctor?" Micodese
Was on a #1 lefty lip. I think Jnski is right with the wire bRing to soft. Live for something or die for nothing. HateBreed
Charleston
Every plug I have ever built had wire from NJT. My thinking is you gave it more than a little tug. I am old but I'm slow.

technologist
I get my wire from them and it's never happened to me? Time is the best teacher, but unfortunately it will kill it's pupil!

Totally agree. Softer wire has the ability to actually stretch if tweaked to hard. Normally happen on metal lips where you over torque the tail wrap
Goofologist
Would T-304 stainless lock wire be good to use? What diameter would be best? Would poplar be a good wood to use? Most of my experience is with balsa, basswood, pine, and maple. Thanks in advance!

If you read Jnski and Winch both agree to use either 308 or 316L stainless steel wire Live for something or die for nothing. HateBreed
