IgotWood
Why does this place suck???? It's such a nice place! Good access, plenty of structure, several nice rips that form, it's got that nice inlet near the point, it's right next to Clinton harbor, which is a major estuary. Is it just me? ....or is this place just garbage???
Fergal
I live in Madison, I've taken my dogs there but never found it interesting enough to wet a line. Canifinish
Never really done well on Stripers there. A few years ago, we hammered gator blues(10-14 lbs) for about a month every weekend we went. It was mid October to mid November. We've tried a few times since that year, but never hit it again like that.
youngc
caught my first striper there a couple seasons ago. one night last year i watched a guy get hung up and walk from the middle of the jetty to the beach letting his line out as he went. haven't been back to fish there since. FlukeOff
I'm pretty new to this site....is talking about a spot that sucks site burning? Lol  Anyways, I've probably fished hammo a total of 17-20 hours so far this year. Good tides, night into morning light, sunset into dark. And nothing. Not a bump or swirl. I don't understand it as last fall I did very well there and caught fish until thanksgiving This ground is not the rock I thought it to be..... Many places are seasonal and if discussed extensively ,especially if they are small, it can be a problem. Moderator is the final word on any of it, but anything that will lead tens of thousands of viewers on this site to believe "I should go there tonight"... or "in the fall" is probably not in anyones interest. Yudi
Was there Friday on the ebb. Had the place to myself. Literally, no people, no fish.
EBHarvey
the jetty looks like perfect bass water, fishes like a skate-infested swimming pool. here's my take on why....  the water coming out of clinton harbor never really comes over that way - it goes out, then mainly east, so the point doesn't benefit from its proximity to the harbor, marshes, etc. the water that does rip around that point is coming mostly from a mile long stretch of nothing - empty beach with very little structure, just sand, nothing that holds bait to get sucked into the rip. passing bait sometimes gets stuck there, and at those times it can fish very well, but its not a funnel for bait like other places can be.  so if you're a bass, why would you hang out there when there are a half dozen tidal marshes dumping out into the sound within a mile of you, deep water, wrecks, and reefs galore to your south and east, flats, and a deep channel to your north, etc.? bass like moving water because it helps them eat, but there's gotta be something there for them to eat to begin with, and at hammo that's just rarely the case. I've done stuff I ain't proud of, and the stuff I am proud of is disgusting.

Yeah it might be warmer, but I would pig out and then go lay in the deep water behind the shoal.

It makes sense. When I moved to Clinton this winter, I was excited for all the new spots to learn, but man, it kinda sucks here. Not a lot of good, accessible water from shore here, and the spots to the east are tough for access.
