It's that time of year again, the official SOL West Coast Hat Fling. We will hold the fling at Francis Beach in Half Moon Bay off Kelly Ave Saturday July 19th.

We will do this as a pot luck as in years past as well as have our free raffle giveaway.

Feel free to bring something for folks to snack on or wash down the good eats and if you have anything to spare, donations for the raffle are always apreciated.

Who's in?

New Guy ' stupit ' Question ALERT !!

what's is the meaning of " SOL Hat Fling ? how'd this come about?

Winch said it best:

It's the official SOL get together for the west coast forum. Used to be held in June, Started up just me and TL Dig when the site was just an infant and the westcoast forum was so dead it had tumbleweeds blowing in. Tammy wanted to bring this gay looking fish hat and I told her if she brought it I would throw it in the water. Hence Hat Fling was born.

Its a fish the morning tide around this area and then head to a spot where all can meet and greet. Normally a place near water. People bring rods and gear and we test out how to work plugs and share idea's. It's a way to give faces to the names we see on line. Most of us are solitary figures, fish alone in different area's. This makes it a better community. Food is king at the fling with as much meat as possible for all to eat. We tend to be meat eaters us fishermen. LOL

It looks to be held at HMB state park beach, which for right now has a lot of smelt spawning nearby, The locals have been lucky to find some bass chasing the smelt there so we should have fish in the area by then.

Its a great get together and I have made some good friends at this Fling.

It's lots of BS,meat, rods, reels, plugs, meat, adult beverages, BS, meat, a chance to try rods that you are curious about, BS, an opportunity to learn how to fish different plugs, meet some of the finest plug makers on either coast, BS, a little fishing, meeting people that you have been interacting with on line, meat, and a great time.

And you will leave with a new plug or two.

The harder you work, the luckier you get.
