edsly42
Hi all, I've been on the New England board for years but new to posting here. Wondering if anyone has any advice for fishing the Bethany Beach area. I'll be there with family the week of 6/14-6/20 and would love to fish a bit. I grew up visiting family there and fishing squid in the surf for the occasional bluefish or sandshark and hooked a small striper or two (rockfish, I know, I know, forgive my New England roots) throwing flies at Indian River Inlet once but it's been a long time since I fished down there. My brother will probably bring his 9wt fly rod and we can probably track down a surf rod or two. Any advice on what to expect or target? artfitch
I would recumbent going to the inlet on an incoming tide. Use a 4-6" "rubber shad" (forget the rap name) on a spinning rod. I've been having a lot of luck with them. I also have been picking up small blues using a blue and white deceiver fly. Stop at a bait shop on Holt's Landing Road and he has the lures. Picked up a 36" rock last week, and a couple 22" and a 26" on the incoming tide. Good luck!!!! Art
