Erik W
Not sure if anyone on here cares, but the ling are in. Fished the angler today and had 26. All mediums and larges. We fished scotland in 55-60 feet. Conditions were horrible w/ wind against tide all morning pushing us off the pieces but after 12, it got much better and we caught them real good. I caught 20 of the 26 in the last 1.5 hrs. It would've been retarded fishing if we had conditions for the entire day but I had plenty. Lots of tog bycatch, mostly toys, along with a handful of cbass and also 15-20 whiting (a few up to 14" surprisingly). Nice to see them. If you like lingin, go now. The fish are finally chewing in the shallows and it is a lot more fun than catching them in 200', they put up a decent fight in shallow water on a light tog rod

Erik W
Thanks guys. delicious, great catch. in my opinion one of the best tasting fish out there Agreed, tough to beat. Only other local fish I'd put it near are seabass and triggerfish. Just gotta remember to ice them down even on a not so hot day. Make a saltwater slurry with some salt brine and you're good to go. Seen so many guys just put them in a five gallon bucket w/o ice or even water on a 90 degree day...then it's ruined
jmerc
Yep, got to keep any fish cool even more so with ling as the tender meat spoils quickly. I bag of ice and a bucket of salt water keeps them fresh and firm
