SkunkLuvver
I was just googling aerial drones to see how much they cost (perfectly normal) and it showed me a ton of different helicopters which gave me my bad idea… my bad idea is to use the helicopter (or boat, I'm flexy) to drop bait in those hard to reach/ wicked far away places… I wanna make drones work for me. Anyone ever try it or hear of it being done? Eminent failure? Think about it… baits too heavy or too light to cast… You could drop an unweighted fly 300 yards out and work it back with a spinning rod… You could do the same with a skate on a big conventional for sharks…. Someone has to have tried this!

xiangbalao38
Could be pretty cool with the remote control boat idea if you attach a fishfinder to it as well
Hombre
With a video drone you could reconnoiter large areas of beach front from the air, cuts down on unproductive fishing.........
davebart
Helicopter and planes are really tuned(rc). They are not meant to carry more weight. They can handle a very small camera but that's it. I have a few ww2 war planes and are really fun to fly. They take some time to figure out then add the ever present wind at the beach makes for tough flying not impossible but tough. If you go down in the water forget it its ruined and doubt very much you recover boats would be better but then you have to deal with waves. But what the hell give it a try
fishbulb
With a video drone you could reconnoiter large areas of beach front from the air, cuts down on unproductive fishing......... There was something not too long ago about using drones to scout out flats for sightcasting. If you're a guide knowing that sort of thing would be money well spent. Artie Fishil
Now you will need a mak bag to carry your drone
dmcvay3387
A lot of people do basically the same thing with there kayaks. but a kayak is much more cumbersome to carry than a small RC boat or plane.
Little Jon
Guys spend 1000s of pounds in the uk on 'bait boats'. They're fitted with fish finders and even video cameras! Would be as useful as a chocolate fire guard in the surf though
Paul E
I'm still holding out for a jet pack. I originally wanted one to break Connecticut's shoreline access problem. Never thought of them for baiting or reconoitering. Of course with a jet pack you'd just fish straight down over the school. No need to cast. Dooley
I've heard of people using kites to drop bait offshore, but never drones. I have a good friend with one that has an amazing function for this idea...if it gets out of range of the remote, it will automatically come back to where the remote is. Its strong enough to carry a GoPro (6.7oz), why not a bucktail, eel or plug? I assume you would have to take the wieght of the line into account as well. You have my interest piqued... Sandflee
Just remember...... BOAT FISH DON'T COUNT...... :p:p:p:p:p If you try to change it, you will ruin it. Try to hold it, and you will lose it. Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
ccb
Neither does surf fish count when working with a spotter plane.
clambellies
A few years back I saw a radio remote control boat set up with a eye hook that turned and would drop a bait/lure on command. Somebody was selling them on the internet for a couple hundred bucks. The only thing that bothered me about it was that it had a 500 foot range for the radio controller. What happens when the boat runs out of radio range, are you unable to command it back to you?
