stroipaHuntah
It's time folks. I can wait any longer and I know many out there are feeling it too. Folks in the major rivers have been catching them all year, and with highs in the 60s all of next week, I'm thinking the weekend of April 5th it's game on for the rest of us. Post any reports, pictures and thoughts related to what I hope will be an epic spring run this year
CTLIS56
Are you thinking holdovers? Or some migratory fish may move in by then?

May be a little early for quantities of spawning migratories but holdovers from the rivers should be venturing out front. Is hard to tell without cutting them open though...usually I wait until I hear about lots of big fish in the far western sound to conclude they are HR bass heading east, post spawn. Craiger12
I'm trying to get out this weekend. I'll try to post about how it goes if I make it out.
stroipaHuntah
I think generally migratory fish show up in May and settle into their local structure inshore during June for the season. Usually by April 1 I am catching active hungry fish in the rivers and bays, even on topwater. Guess they're holdovers
CTLIS56
Yeah I'll be out there this weekend or the next, depending on the weather. Don't think I can wait anymore. I'll be out on the Saugie or Norwalk river on the yak.
PaulS
We have to be careful we don't give specific locations.

tfucini
Its ok...there pretty big rivers it doesn't matter how big the rivers are. The last thing you want is for someone to figure out where you were fishing and next thing you know there are 30 guys from Jersey there the next day! theminnow23
Yea the big river thing is nonsense. I went this weekend only to see New York, mass and New Jersey plates up and down it.
CTLIS56
Alright guys, I'll back off my previous statement. As most of you have been on this site much longer than me. I just think some guys are a little too touchy with "spot burning" aka mentioning a large river system in a post. Not including whether or not they caught fish. But God knows the last thing anyone from CT wants is people from New jersey showing up. haha
striperswiper06437
Its ok...there pretty big rivers If you think the rivers are big enough, please feel free to post up your specific spots along with your reports. I think you will quickly see how small the rivers actually are. In all honesty, I would not even post the names of the rivers that we, as CT based anglers, target for fish. I realize it's not rocket science, but the less information out there on the internet for ANYONE to see; the better. This in turn should also apply to any and all spots in CT waters. I think this season we will begin to see a much greater influx of out-of-staters in our waters. The more we share, the more pictures of fish we post (in real time), the more pressure we will have to deal with. Just my thoughts..... but I recall one spot last season where I saw cars from VT, NY, NJ, PA, RI and MA on a regular basis. If you don't think people are willing to drive for fish, you are greatly mistaken. It all started last year during a terrible thunderstorm, when I locked myself out of the house. Shelving myself with a large piece of sheet metal, I ran for cover under the tallest tree I could find!
CPollnow
It's no secret about the holdovers but it doesn't help that the magazines are writing articles about the spots too.

In all seriousness I'm not going to get into an argument with people about this. I feel people are a little touchy about it, and that's it. Out of curiosity why do you feel that there will be an influx of out of state fishermen? Gut feeling or is something going on in other states that would leave you to believe this?
