Recreational anlgers and boaters in NC beware

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

To all recreational boaters and anglers that fish or boat in marine waters, the NCFA has issued an intent to sue multiple State and Federal agencies for what they consider unfair regulations targeting commercial fishermen in regards to sea turtle interactions. They feel that since they are being regulated all recreational anglers and boaters should also be regulated. If all boating and recreational angling is not stopped they will sue. DON'T BELIEVE ME... read page 9 of the letter of intent that is contained in this link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ysfry5c1nwtkps/Turtle%20press%20release.pdf

It's kinda like, "If we motorists have to stay off our cell phones while driving, why shouldn't cops have to stay off their phones too!" I get it! But to think that all recreational users are out there with no compassion for a turtle, come on!

I have reported 2 stranded/injured turtles before. I mean, I think if most people hit a dog with their car, they'd report it, so long as they can see it, know where it is, and know the extent of its injuries. I would hope, regulation or not, that boaters would do the same, so long as they can clearly see that it was indeed a turtle they injured, especially knowing they are endangered.

A regulation for such, especially in the OBX, will make people fearful of reporting, for the fear that they are the ones that might lead to a whole area of beach or sound or inlet becoming closed for recreational use.

To clarify, the two turtles I reported... One was sick/dying on a coastal bay beach in OC, Maryland, the other was entangled in a net offshore, which we were able to cut free. We reported both. I am sure they did nothing with the one we set free in the middle of the ocean, because you can't really give someone corrdinates for a turtle that we just watched swim away. They other, some DNR person came and looked. Not sure what they did after that or what information they collected. But the dead turtle was in the same spot the next day.

I'll just copy and paste my response here.....With the Caveat that this being one of the most CCA orientated site on the Whole InterWeb, I hope you'all get what you deserve.... The SAME Rules you have forced on the Comms....... If you lay down with Dogs your gonna get Fleas....

They will shut it all Down, If 6 Turtle are observed in the the Pamlico Sound, they shut down Gill Net Fishing for Flounder. What you are seeing is more then a Shot over the Bow, Recreational Fishermen will now Be held accountable for their Kills. Trip Tickets for the Rec is Soon to Follow as well.

With Groups Like the CCA and NCFMY and a Few others F ing with Coms for over 30 = Years. It looks Like Pay Back is Coming and IMHO and I'm a Rec, It is well Deserved. They have just Deemed 96 Miles of the NC Coast Critical Wintering Habitat for Turtles. That will include Inside and Outside Waters. Part of this is YOU will not be able to RUN a BOAT anywhere in these waters, for any Purpose. Fishing, Diving, Swiming, Tubing ANYTHING.

You all were warned about this by myself and others for the last 10 Years, these will be called MPA's or Marine Protected Areas, welcome to my World of Beach Access, cept NOW it will Affect Everyone and it will affect the water ways as well. It will only help IMHO to Bring more of you out to my Protest on the Beach in a Few months called "Bring Your Long Rifle To the Beach Day"

So all of You CCA and NCFMY warriors, you have just Cut off your Own Heads and I find it Hilarious. Don't worry there will be NO ECONOMIC IMPACT AT ALL, thats what we were told.... Enjoy I have been Living this for 8 Years...

PS it's not gonna stop in NC, California has one of the Largest MPA's In the US and Biscayne Bay Fla. is about to be shut down also. I told you'all long ago either we can stick together or we can HANG INDIVIDUALLY... Looks to me the Hangings have started... but keep sending money to the CCA.. LMFAO.... It is well deserved.. And Speck 80 was one of the biggest loud mouths against comms....

PSS Glad I have over 30 years of IT experience, looks Like I will be going back to work doing IT and Vacationing in Exotic Locations around the World, Outside of the USA.. You'all can keep the USA...

Keep Giving the CCA your Money, they are no better then the Audubon, the SELC and the Defenders of WildLife.. You hitched your wagon to them after being warned by numerous People, myself included, and now you will reap what you Sow.. Enjoy.. IMHO you Deserve it....

If they found you NOAA or DMF cuting a turtle out of a Nest they would have bent you over your own boat and used and abused you like a 2 dollar *****, you broke the Law by TOUCHING THE TURTLE... You my friend could have been Fined up the wazoo... If you were wise you would delete your post admitting you did something illegal.. JMHO

Keep the Infighting Rollin Boyz and soon all of us will be eating talapia and talking about how we used to fish.. You all do realize that we are 5 percent of the Worlds Population, and the ONLY ones making and Following Rules.. All that does is make other countries LAUGH at us and Loose us JOBS.. So Keep Playin "Do Gooder" like the Audubon and SELC and Include the CCA who are all Payed 6 figure salaries, and also laugh at you all the way to the Bank.

These People don't even go outside and you let them Control you and YOUR GONNA SAVE THE WORLDS FISH POPULATION when you are only 5 percent of the People, following the Dumb Rules you come up with. Do the Math.

Size limits on fish do nothing but Promote Killing more Fish. For example Flounder regs in Delaware I believe is 18 inches, How many Short fish do you have to catch to Catch an 18 inch Flounder????

If the Size Limit on Flounder was 10 inches, which you can get a nice Filet off of, you catch your Limit and you stop Fishing you go home and feed your family a nice Flounder Dinner.

Catch and Release does not mean Catch and Survive, thats just more CCA Propaganda.. Lower Sizes would save Gut Hooked Fish and there would be no Waste... Not my Humble Opinion FACT...

But you'all have drunk the KoolAid and soon You will not be allowed to fish at all.. Watch it's coming.. Rec Limits on Greys in NC 1, rec Limits on Drum 1, rec limits on Specks 4...... Dam Close to ZERO if you ask me ... And they are alos Fining and Punishing Rec's now with fines and Loss of License for violations, just like they have for Comms for Years.. Your Groups CCA and Others are Selling you a Bag of Goods, Wake up and UNITE before its too late..

JAM, thanks for sayin what others don't want to hear. It's a hard truth.

If being stupid got us into this mess, how come being stupid can't get us out?
I don't want to behave improperly, so I just won't behave at all.

Here is another GREAT POINT the CCA Crowd will Love...

Just like one of our Boat Captains went to Washington DC on Fishing Regs a few years back and he got to Speak. He asked the guy (making the Rules) If he had ever been a Commercial Fisherman??? Answer: NO He asked the Guy if he had ever been Fishing before in his Life???? Answer: No He asked the Guy had he ever been on a Boat Before? Answer NO He asked the Guy if he had ever Seen the Ocean Before???? Answer NO.. Thats who's making the Rules.... REVOLUTION
