I want waterproof and lightweight. Good for wading or underwater fishing. Maybe a longer spool design to get a little more distance than the VS of ZB models. Option of bailed or not bailed. Like the hook holder on the ZB. Long enough foot to not knock knuckles. You should be able to service yourself if needed.

I recommend the use of standard thread, stainless steel socket cap fasteners.

Metric or SAE.

Fit the new reel with a simple, one-piece handle like that of the Abu Cardinal 807i.

Design a reel that is simple and strong with a minimum # of parts like the legendary Penn 706.

A simple reel with a minimum # of parts is easily serviced.

Design the reel with a cover plate like the 706's that is easily removed to service the reel.

High gear ratio, torque, line capacity and drag. They should make something that will take the offshore market by storm but be able to cross over flawlessly into the surf...like a cross between a Stella and Van Staal. Sorry but we already have the perfect surf reel...Van Staal. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Innovate and create something completely new that isn't a spinoff of something that already exists.

Do you guys really think this survey is for real? It's just Rob out to promote his new venture. Now I have respect for him as a designer and really like his previous efforts but I have a feeling he was lining this up when he went over to China to oversee the production of the ZB. I am sure the design and price point are already set, soon an insider will start coming on giving all kinds of updates and "confidential" info, just like the last time. I am fairly confident the reel will be made overseas, be a modified ZB design and come at a appealing price point( he's already done it with the companies fly reels). If QC is controlled he will probably again be a force in the surf casting market. I find it funny to think that the person who had a hand in developing two of the benchmark reels for surf fishing would need input as to bail type, weight, line capacity and price point.
