What kind of shark is this?

Was about 12miles off jersey shore when we came across this. Getting 2 different answers on what type it is. What do you think?

Sounds like a Big shark.

Probably a basking shark at that size. Did it move slowly? Deff not a white can tell by the dorsal.

alaskansteve mayb you just don't know about sharks, mattyclaus can tell by the bad pic. Yes it moved very slow.

Looks like a hammerhead to me.

Hammerhead. I caught one 2 weeks ago about 12-15 miles of as bury

Sorry guys, def not hammerhead. Saw the head, just couldn't get it in the pic. We did see couple hammers that day also

I second the basking shark suggestion...coloration is not far from a white, but as mentioned above, dorsal fin disqualifies that as a possibility
