No, not at all. You may have interpreted it that way.

I don't care.

It's not my business.

I have no influence over the Pope, and the only influence he has over me is what I allow or accept.

I leave room for the people to reconcile with their God, very well accepting...even anticipating...that he may not care very much if you are gay. In fact, I find most of the churches stance on gays and many other things seemingly hypocritical.

Don't care what the Pope has to say? You are no catholic, and should be excommunicated today.

To bad...I did all my sacraments. I'm in the club. Go ahead and try and throw me out. cwm27.gif

It's not like I'm going to set my hair on fire because today the Pope said he won't judge gay people.

Are you?

I apologize KOQ, you seem like a decent guy. I just get a little sick of reading the hate and blatant hypocrisy constantly posted by so called believers.

I've read a few quotes on the Pope's comments. I don't think they're out of context, but they don't reflect a seismic shift in church policy, only a better emphasis on mercy and the personal relationship between God and the individual. Overall a very good thing. I think Pope Francis will develop relationships with people that that previous Popes didn't.

“If they accept the Lord and have good will, who am I to judge them? They shouldn’t be marginalized,” he told reporters on his return flight from Rio de Janeiro to Rome. “The tendency [to homosexuality] is not the problem … they’re our brothers.”

The comments did not signal any change in church policy. Catholic teaching still holds that homosexual acts are “intrinsically disordered.” But they indicated a shift in tone under Francis’ young papacy and an emphasis on a church that is more inclusive and merciful rather than critical and disciplinary.

Agree.

The pontiff's statement reflects a shift that is attitudinal and not doctrinal.

Yup the self satisfied belief that God will damn the same people they would.

nevermind.

I'm liking this pop already. I think he's going to be a good one. Compassion and humility from up top have been missing for too long.

Now if they would just back off on their anti-contraceptive stance. Maybe that's next.

I think what the pope meant is there is definitely a place in the church for gays and he is willing to start them as alter boys icon24.gif

I like this guy too. I agree totally with his sentiment. If the church wants to stay relevant they will need to rearrange some of their attitudes. The #1 thing they could do is to allow Priests to marry. Perhaps this is the direction this pope will lean. Who knows? But the total condemnation of homosexuals is certainly not our (humans) place. Live and let live. If it is so bad then like KOQ says they will pay a price eventually.

This also goes to the core of what God really 'does' vis a vi the everyday workings of humanity. Some folks think that God listens to every prayer each of us (greedily or altruistically) make. "Please, please, please God make sure A-Rod gets suspended." Some think that God is a bit more hands off. Do what you want, the good die and are persecuted sometimes and the evil may flourish God is too busy to care about trade deadlines or lung cancer. After you die I think the totatlity of your soul is measured and you are part of the energy (heaven) or you are left wanting and are simply poofed into nothing ness.

Whatever, I dont think its up to us point fingers and pretend to be God and condemn. Its childish and small minded. Leave it to the pros and keep your own nose clean.

For his humility and humanity I salute the pontiff; I suspect his compassion has some roots in the socioeconomics of South American communism.

Didn't Hugo Chavez say that Christ was the first communist?
