freshwater striper video

Doing some recon for the upcoming season on diving for stripers, shot some video yesterday of fish.

two decent videos, given conditions, but you can see that diving for these fish is not exactly easy. If I was shooting yesterday, I woud have had 2 fish. Both those schools let me see them one time. This was shallow diving, but doing this at 30-50 ft in similar conditions is really different diving. Interacted with rod and reel, no one hating us, politeness reigned.

Cool. Those fish aren't afraid of you at all. It's interesting to see how much movement they are doing. You see this supports what slowriprun has been saying. That they spend lots of time travelling. I just think they travel between points over and over, in a pattern, or a repeat, if you will.

Thats pretty much because I'm not moving. My head a bit in the one video, but sometimes even that will spook them.

The only place I have seen stripers static is the north east. You would come over a ledge, and they would be laying in a gutter, almost still.

Well alot of that has to do with the water that you can swim in I'd imagine. If you were in some outflows and what not you'd probably see a fair amount of them holding behind rocks etc. Problem is, you can only float downcurrent in those situations and the stripers are looking up at your big mug and hightail it out of there. They key is deception: you have stay still and try to look like a log or something being washed downstream.
