LIRR just had a nice price increase as well, guess we have to help pay for all the MTA disability fraud.

Hey Bob Remember way back when the people started screaming about paying the .25 toll to get across the Smith Point Park bridge. They said that since the bridge was paid for they shouldn't collect tolls anymore. They stopped collecting the .25 cent toll to get across the bridge but then the County started collecting $1.00 per car to park in the lot which used to be free. Now I don't even know what they are charging for parking but it has to be close to $10.00 if not more.

Oh yeah! I think it may be more than $10 without the green key. Not sure. I have been parking on the sand since I graduated HS. :-)
They also did away with the evening fee recently due to rallies. I think that money was going to go towards maintenance. So much for maintenance! Lol..

You realize they are arguing for a greater cause that ties in things like bridge tolls right?

Anyway I live a couple minutes from this bridge. It is ridiculous and goes up every year. The other 2 major bridges on Staten Island are now 13 dollars.

There have been protests, meetings flooded with people against toll raises, etc.
When the toll hit 10 dollars people lined up to pay in pennies. And that was only a few years ago. Now we are at 15!

Tolls are archiac ,they should just increase taxes more to compensate. That way we are enured the money goes to the proper entities and the bridges would be maintained properly.

Oh.. did we mention that it's the most dangerous bridge in NY ? and top 10 in the country ? about 180,000k drivers per day, x lets say $35 (trucks pay $80) that's A LOT of money..

I have a great way to offset the toll hike!!

We just turned on the new signal heads at Walt Whitman and the LIE SSR.
There is no turn on red. I just counted 35 potential tickets that could have been written in the span of 3 minutes. :-)

i believe i had read somewhere that cost of toll vs miles of bridge, the verrazano is the most expensive toll in the world. just as a comparison the chesapake bay bridge and tunnel which is 20 miles long is $12, and the san francisco bay bridge which is 2 bridges and 4.5 miles long is $6.00
