Firedawg
We have been chasing a Mako from shore for years, and finally my buddy got lucky! The Mako taped out at 10'5" and swam away fine. We have hooked a few over the years, but never landed one...... until now! It jumped 4 times, and pulled drag faster than anything we have ever seen! Firedawg
We use a kayak to take the baits out from 100 to 200 yards, the Mako hit a body section of fresh Cownose Ray about 25lbs. This year we have caught the Mako, Tigers, Hammers, Lemons, Blacktips, Sandbars, Duskys, Nurses, and Spinners from 5' to 11'. I sure would like to drop a big bait next time I am back off one of the beaches back home for a Sevengill or GW!!!!! A Mako and GW are the holy grail of land based sharking!!! We use 20/0 Mustad circle hooks and #19 to #24 wire with a trace of 900lb mono about 30 ft with home made claw weights.
