Bourne gives you a gauge as well. In Bourne it's a $25 fine for harvesting shellfish and not being in possesion of a gauge.

It's in the regs, but Tim's a very fair guy (more than fair IME) and so are the people who work for him. I'm sure they won't give you a ticket for not having one, unless you make a habit of it. Seed falls out of your rake basket anyway, and if a neck is questionable, I throw it back. Plus, you are allowed a certain % of seed in your basket.

If one measure your rake and if made by Maggie, the distance between the wire is one inch. In Sandwich that is all it needs to be for Quahogs

If the quahog does not go through it is legal, still have the gauge attached to the basket:D

Technically you're correct Carl. But when you're bringing up littlenecks 15-20 at a time, there will be plenty of times when even undersized quahogs won't fall through the 1" gaps at the bottom of the rake.

All it takes is a good propagation program like bourne has.........good access to the water is a big plus as well........
