A name makes it easier for The Weather Channel to hype it.

I think it happened a while ago...
As a kid we'd be all excited at the prospect of snow and I remember my Dad saying %$&***@!
My friend owns a landscape company and they plow to keep the guys busy and the trucks on the road.
He calls them all sumbeach...as in "this one's going to be a sumbeach"

I was wondering the same, I think is just stupid.

I thought this was the first year/season that TWC started this practice but not sure really. We used to call one storm a mother effer, and the next a real beeyach, and the one after that a real pain in the arse, but this system seems more precise. LL.jpg

Wife's maiden name was Moroz...shortened from Ded Moroz which is Russian for Santa Claus.
Translation is Father Frost or just "Frosty".
Should have seen that one coming...

personally thats why I think its done.Of course thier reasoning is, that more people pay attention to the possible severity of a storm when its linked to a Name.
