Sorry, I am new, but was wondering if someone could give me some advice or information on two penn reels that I have one is a model 85 the other is a penn peer model 209, and I want to sell them but don't know where to start on pricing as I have never seen one.  These were given to me by a neighbor about 2 years ago and I am unable to fish any longer.  Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Got this from Scotts BT .com, the 85 is either an 85 Oceanside or 85 Seaboy Conventional.  Most older Penn reels only had a number if I remember correctly, but I would check the reel just in case.  85 Oceanside had no info listed, except the year 1938, on their site, but the Seaboy was first produce before 1941 and discontinued in the laste 80s.  The Penn Peer was first produce in 1958 and still produce today.  No mention of values, best bet there would be to check ebay.  Also check out Scotts, they have a little more detailed info with pictures about your two reels.

It should just say penn no. 85 is what your saying with no name?

With older conventionals, most of the time, yes.  As with the OPs reel, either on one or both side plates it would read just as you wrote it.  Penn NO. 85 followed by Made In The US and something else I don't remember all inscribed inside of a cicrle.

...... I'd say 25 for the 85, and 20 for the 209.

I'd say swap those two numbers are around. The 209 is a more complicated reel and has a level wind and chromed parts. The 85 is more of a minimalist lower cost reel. They are both great reels but not likely to bring a great price, especially the 85. Condition is everything too. There are a lot of these reels around, so if the condition is not up there, neither will be the selling prices.

The #85 is a simple "Bay" reel and isn't worth $20 unless is basically NIP. I have one that I've has since I was about 6 or so.
