My Dad and I will be going to Manasota Key, Florida from Dec. 28th through Jan 6th. We went to Ft. Myers last year and with it being our first time ever going that far south we didn't know much about the area and didn't do to well fishing. Luckily we hooked up with a good local capt and had a great day of redfish fishing. I was wondering if anyone on here knows the fishing in Manasota Key well. I think we may rent a boat one day, either a 20 foot sea hunt or a bay skiff. But probably every other day we will be fishing from shore, bay or surf. If anyone can give us some tips or good places to fish it would be much appreciated! Thanks.

This reel is awesome. Drag is silky smooth, super smooth returns. I got the 6000 and fit 500 yards of 30lb powerpro on it. Everything about this reel is great, get one.

Was very happy with the lower price of the average Van Staal. Reel looks very well made and is an eye catcher too. I wasn't happy with my VS150 so I sold it rather quickly. This reel was very...

One of the best live bait reels I have used . Smooth drag system for light line fishing and a nice tension adjustment on the bait runner system. Good positive return to preset drag tension with...

Too bad this reel has a weak cross wind mechanism , other than that it is not a bad buy for under 100 bucks. I have landed numerous fish on the reel including 3 blacktip sharks in the 15lb range...

Might be better posted in the Florida Forum. Never fished that Key but generally its not hard to get on fish down there. Only thing I'll suggest is take a sweatshirt for that week.

Shallow draft boat, some white bait, and simple structure is all you need... fishin down there is long casts with light rods and very simple stupid.. Mirrolure, DOA, and loveslures will catch fish for short money.. A popping cork with some gulp shrimp in "new penny" will help you out... For Tarpon get some Threadfin herring for bait and cast it 12-15ft. in front of a tailing/cruising tarpon.. and don't forget to bow to the king
I hope this helps.. Catch em up!!!
