Looks like we have a small island now on the east side.

I wonder how did Sandy affect Napeague, Amagansett, Hampton Beach east ??

This begges two questions.

1) Will they fix this?

2) If they leave this will it make fishing better?

Just a finale question of my own.

Why don't they widen the Inlet to make it more like FI inlet? Make it more navigable.

Wow....a new inlet.

I wonder if this will be repaired or left alone.

Anyone have chopper pics of the Mecox or Georgia breaches?

There's a photo on a news12 gallery of Georgica which shows the parking lot undermined and partially collapsed onto the beach.

Another one off of newsday...looking south from the bay.

Maybe the beach front homeowners do not have to spend millions to add sand now? They lucked out;

I am sure they will donate the money for the less fortunate.

The salinity of the bay will change now and affect the shellfish! Not good!

Shouldn't it help? More flushing of the bay = less brown tide.

Actually the breech will improve water quality in both Moriches and western Shinnecock Bays. Wen the ocean broke through at Pikes' , a couple of miles east we had a great set of piss clams and hard clams that lasted a few years , until they :fixed" it. An influx of clean ocean water is very beneficial.

Around 1981 a similar breach happened at Moriches. The eastern jetty was in the middle of the inlet. There was a large project the filled in the the breach and made the rock revetments around the back side of the inlet. From the pictures it doesn't look as bad as it was back then.

Paka I have to agree there will be sets in Moriches and GSB from the cleansing of those breaches.

Anyone know what Shinny East looks like?
