say Romney never knew him, just using his death for political gain :

"I don't trust Romney," Mrs Doherty told news station WHDH.

"He shouldn't make my son's death part of his political agenda. It's wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama," she said.

Mr Romney is reported to have mentioned Doherty at events on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Romney campaign said in a statement on Wednesday: "Governor Romney was inspired by the memory of meeting Glen Doherty and shared his story and that memory, but we respect the wishes of Mrs Doherty."

A campaign official confirmed Mr Romney would not re-tell the anecdote.

Friends of Doherty have spoken publicly about his encounter with Mr Romney at a Christmas party.

His friend, Elf Ellefsen, told a Seattle radio station: "He said it was very comical. Mitt Romney approached him ultimately four times, using this private gathering as a political venture to further his image.

"He kept introducing himself as Mitt Romney, a political figure. The same introduction, the same opening line. Glen believed it to be very insincere and stale," Mr Ellefsen added

busted as a fake. and outed as an utter disgrace.

Doherty's mother, Barbara Doherty, reacted strongly to the news. "I don't trust Romney. He shouldn't make my son's death part of his political agenda. It's wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama," WHDH reported.

Doherty's sister had a different take.

"It was nice what he said. Being an American hero is bipartisan," said Doherty's sister, Kate Quigley. "I am happy for it, and I was honored by Obama's coming home ceremony."

B.S...that was not a rebuke of Romney that she gave. Post everything she said in that interview, not an out of context snippet.

here's the rest :

Kate Quigley. "I am happy for it, and I was honored by Obama's coming home ceremony."

Quigley said her family is focusing on Doherty's life, and not the controversy surrounding the attack in Libya that led to his death.

Doherty, 42, never talked about security concerns on the job, but the deaths in Libya have prompted a review that has had President Barack Obama's administration on the defensive.

"We are not letting ourselves go there because no good will come of it. We are focusing on the good and keeping the man we love alive through paying it forward," Quigley said. "We are hoping to raise enough money to spread his love of adventure and give the gift of adventure to a wounded spirit."

yup. she was touched by the President being there in person to receive the coffin, as he was for the other 17 Navy SEAL's. Romney was out fundraising probably huh ?
