Fishing in NJ for October, 2012

As usual, post reports here.......as little or as much detail as you would like to provide the reader. Please don't post specific street names or areas. Sometimes just a town name is too much information! Doing so only adds to the traffic in certain areas and it might cause an internet feud. For example, you can say that you caught fish in Ocean County but saying that you got them at Ocean Beach is a no-no. Feel free to share any thoughts you might have on local conditions and "I got the old skunkaroo" reports" are OK too.

Some popular acronyms:

SH- Sandy Hook

NoMoCo- Northern Monmouth County

SoMoCo- Southern Monmouth County

SFZ-Spring Fling Zone (SRI-Shark River Inlet to MI- Manasquan Inlet)

OC Ocean County

IBSP-Island Beach State Park

LBI- Long Beach Island

AC- Atlantic County

CISP- Corson's Inlet State Park

CMC- Cape May County

CMR- Cape May Rips

Let me be the first. biggrin.gif

Drove down to IBSP this morning at dark. On the way across Rt 70 I collected a deer. Deer and steel bumpers on 95 Jeeps don't mix too well. Jeep 1 - deer 0. Did have to replace license plates as front one disappeared due to impact.

OK, now fishing report. Met Bristol Lou and we started plugging at first light. Nice morning. Mullet going nuts in small pods. Tried poppers, nada. Swimming plug, bingo. Nice fat 25" and then a 33" fish. Measured off course. And although no pix, Lou did witness the larger of the two fish.

BTW, fish were right in the wash. You could see them chasing mullet in the shore break. The fish were caught by holding the plug in the wash and making it dance by the receding water at the end of the retrieve.

Let the games begin! highfive.gif

Was nothing like that this morning. You had to work for these fish. No tins, no stupid fishing. Average schmoe won't catch these fish. It was classic striper trickery. wink.gif On at dark off at 8.

Found some decent Kingfish on Saturday up to 17 inches.  Also found a blackfish hole and caught a bunch up to 13 inches all of which went back.  Went out to the Shrewsbury Rocks with a buddy on Sunday and caught a 36-inch, 14.5 blue.  Even though it was a boat fish it was fun!

Fished nomoco this morning. Through every plug in my bag. Skunked again. four or five others out there, no luck there either. Clams, bucktails swimmers, poppers, NADA. Maybe tonight! Good luck to all of you. Doc

Spig,
I saw two get hit Sun am and about 6 or 7 standing in the full moon early am. One totally destroyed a mini van on 195. Be careful out there guys the deer are def. moving.
Nice going on the fish, I tried to tell a few folks about the 'trickery', no takers they just mugged me and made it impossible to cast parallel. Mullet people, mullet.

NoMoCo this evening. No hits, no fish, no errors.

Water looked off color. Saw acres and acres of bait moving south. Nothing on em, just happy bait.
