mr snook
Has any body used the bigger models for the surf or any other fishing it seems like a good reel. It also looks cool seen people use it popper fishing for gt it seemed to work good but I never used one.just need some feed back for next season my fin nor sportfisher bail is crushed and the bearings are rusted it has Been dunked a lot and I fell on it a twice. It was a smooth reel with a heavy drag but I am looking for a good reel. mr snook
Yes it was a big fish the reel has a smooth drag. It seemed to work good for that day but it is hard to tell with the crossover body if it has a week spot but that gt should of found it that night.but the aluminum is at a strong point in the reel but who knows it might be a beast of a reel but most people won't buy it becuse it is made by okuma. Good brand bad reputation Life is short so Live life like you will die tomorrow and dream like you will live forever
Whopper Bubba
I have an Okuma Axion 90 which is huge. I did all the line for reels at a big box warehouse and wasn't impressed with the Okuma fly reels and some others, but this has brought in a lot of salmon and halibut and tuna and behaves well. Large spools (500 yards 20 Lb mono) which I have 50X and 15x braid. Casts well. Cannot complain yet. It retailed at $120 but they had a price reduction to $100 and I got a dealer discout of 50% plus shipping (no tax in my state) so $56 bucks has made it a good buy so far. mr snook
Whay do people dislike okuma it has served me well there rods are good choice for some body that does not want to spend 200 on a rod that could break at any time Life is short so Live life like you will die tomorrow and dream like you will live forever
catchnr3lease
My girlfriends mom has the regular trio, not the new orange highspeed, id guess it was about a 5-6000 size? Shes had it for a few years and still super smooth, has it on a 9' tica 1/2-3 with 30lb suffix and casts a mile. Â Â

Whopper Bubba
I don't have experience with their rods but a number of their reels came back to our box store with broken handles (fly reels). I couldn't pass up the big spinning reel for $56 and it has served me well so far. In general, the reels are of lesser quality.

redfin
I am not saying that are as good as the Stella it is people don't give the newer models a chance:( Â I like some Okuma products very much. I agree that they just seem to have a tough time winning people over.
