littlelord
So... earlier today I checked out Albright's website to find out more info on their 4-piece surf spinning rods. To my surprise they were on sale for $95! Good deal, right? So, I promptly ordered a 9' rod.... 30 seconds later I received an email from Albright confirming and thanking me for my order. well.... when I got back from lunch there was an email waiting for me Hmm... I shot an email: Their response: Wow. What do you guys think an appropriate response would be? Am I wrong here? I mean- I thought they might even meet me half way on this. Can you say "Bait and Switch"?
cnnashman
Pricing errors happen and of course their not obligated to honor the mistake but your response was a good one and it's always worth a shot. I would be interested in knowing if that error gets corrected because that will reveal if it's really a bait and switch or if if was a legit error. I hope it turns out well for you. crazybellringer
I like that grimus avatar. Don't sweat the rod stuff like that happens and it's not easy to come by travel rods.
mag minnow
I've bought two of the travel surf rods, waders and boots from the site with no issues. I'd believe it to be a legitimate mistake. To be honest, I wouldn't have come to the conlusion that it may have been a "Bait and Switch"...The rods are still a good deal at the correct price... littlelord
Yeah, we'll see what happens. I don't think they were trying to rip me off or anything... but I was inconvenienced by this and feel they haven't even addressed that. I offered to pay the full price if they covered the 2nd day shipping i ordered. Let's see... thanks for your responses!
chunk
if you do a search you'll find there have been a lot of issues with their customer service. I've never had to use their customer service but the travel rod I used from them went through more than a few wars and handled well New Jersey King Crab
littlelord
OK- I just heard back from their customer service dept. They are going to honor the mistake price after all. So, I guess I have nothing bad to say about these guys! I can't wait for my new rod...

jerseyjoeb
Great of Albright to do that. Pricing was probably an honest mistake on its part. You are the beneficiary. Seems to be a quality company, worthy of SOL member support. I have the 8'6" surf spinner and it is a very good travel rod.

Albright is no stranger on these boards and there have been some (holy cows) by the owner in regard to what he thought about his customers (shocking to say the least) but i'm glad they did the right thing here. Supported by some and never to be supported again by others, it all depends on if a warranty is important to you, most purchase because of the price and quality but expect no after market support and thats just fine with most guys. Sudsy
They made a mistake on an order of mine once - sent the wrong fly reel as part of the order Immediately sent me the correct one and said keep the mistake reel ($25) as a gift. Master Debaiter
Couple months ago I broke a section on my 10 foot surf rod... Recently replaced it... Got in it in two days just in time for my Florida trip. Very happy Boston Strong
