Alan Hawk
Unless I missed it, seems like Icast threads didn't feature Accurate's newest Twinspin, the SR6. These are found on the web, credit goes to original photographers. Beautiful styling, the rotor's curvatures and cut-outs obviously inspired by the 2010 Daiwa Certate. I wish they update bigger Twinspins to that lovely design, particularly the bail arm/wire connection, shave a little weight, do away with the whole spool quick change gimmick, and the TS should give the dominant Japanese reels a run for their money. Alan Hawk
$600 I believe.
BrianBM
$600 is no longer a price that startles. Alan, did you see anything at ICAST which you intend to review? ... if you're at liberty to say, of course.
cnnashman
I don't know, either it doesn't appeal to me because of the lack of fine lines or the $600.00 price tag. I'm guessing the latter. The spool lip looks like a very slippery design.:th:
lichum
Beautiful styling. The hemispherical rotor shape is the ultimately beautiful rotor design. "Who is John Galt?" Who? You?
lichum
The spool lip looks like a very slippery design.:th: The lip's curvature follows through on the rotor's curvature at its bottom; the lip shape helps unifiy the reel's design. wishiniwuzfishin
Purdy! But after poking around enough to find the specs, I'm wondering why they skipped an SR 8 or 10... They shaved 16 oz. off the 26 oz. SR 12, but it's only gonna hold 160 yds. of 30 lb. braid...
cnnashman
The hemispherical rotor shape is the ultimately beautiful rotor design. It is a beauty for sure but i still love harder edges, not so fluid looking overall. I wonder if the drivetrain will have a more fluid feel to it. Last time i checked one out i wasn't very impressed after reeling it for awhile. I believe it still has the all stainless pinion and drive gear and while long lasting and durable not the most effortless retrieve, as expected with the mating of these two though. BrianBM
Well, the target market is people with sizeable boats who cast to sailfish, marlin, GTs and so on, they're not going to be casting all day. Smooth operation of the gear train, which might be enhanced with a bronze gear in there (calling the Fathom) might matter less than sheer durability under heavy load (a la Wahoo Special). mitchman
Great looking reel, but I am fairly certain that its not waterproof nor does it have any seals for the surf crowd. For the price I'd look a VS for not much more. I am also surprised they went from large/offshore model to light inshore model. Maybe they are trying to make this reel a crossover than can play in the largemouth bass market as well? Good for accurate though!
Alan Hawk
Alan, did you see anything at ICAST which you intend to review? ... if you're at liberty to say, of course. I did not go to the show, but two of my friends exhibited there so I got good reports of what was at the show. Of the new stuff announced there I'm definitely going to review the new Quantum Cabo 80, the Spinfisher V 10500, and if they ever update the SR30L to the SR6's design I'll be all over it. might matter less than sheer durability under heavy load (a la Wahoo Special). Absolutely right. I've just devastated the drive gear of some prototype reel on angry Wahoo. Smoothness is good but sheer strength is paramount and I'd pick a noisy clunky drivetrain over a smoother one that's even slightly weaker any day. Alan Hawk
Found a good photo. The lines look so good I'm actually considering pulling the trigger despite being a super tiny reel! What do you think I should do?
