Restaurants that serve fresh aligator meat in Orlando.

Hello,

I will be on vacation in August down Orlando Florida with my family visiting Mickey Mouse. I have been wanting to try fresh aligator for a long time. Do you know of any restaurant in that area serving fresh (not frozen) Aligator meat? Tail, Sausage, ribs of that kind.

Did a google search, but only come up with sites that sell the meat.

Thanks for any recommendation,

Young

I found Alligator meat to have the consistency of rubber.
Tasty, but very 'chewy.'

But, at Narcuzzi's (the Italian restaurant at Disney's Grand Floridian resort) they make Alligator PATE'
Delicious! And the consistency of Chopped Liver.

If you want the rubbery stuff, go to the Seminole reservation, West of Fort Lauderdale.
(Once was enough for me.)

Thank you Ammo.

I did not expect to hear it being rubbery. If that is all to it, I will be very disappointed when I try it.

If it's 'Rubbery', it's over cooked.

Gator is over rated... It's good but just a novelty meal.

if you are going to do gator, do gator right.
look up "Lone Cabbage Fish Camp" online and get thee over there and eat it. have some frog legs on the side while you are at it!
they do gator right.
not to mention it's right on the river, and you'll most likely be able to sit there and eat and look at the gators in the wild.wink.gif

now that take me way back when my dad was still around... (many Moons ago) Lone cabbage fish camp has been there for YEARSSSSSSS..
If you are used to Nice super clean place this isnt for you.... the place is OLD but!! thats what makes it pretty good and IMO it take you back to in
time to old Fl
I also have to agree that Gator is way overrated and i have it cooked many ways, but alot of folks want to try it.... hell everybodyd knows that Armadillo taste
way better then gator and no i'm not kidding biggrin.gif

But if you really want to eat gator, dip it in spicy sause and have a couple pitchers of beer it will taste really good then smile.gif

I realy enjoy frog legsdrool.gif. That would be an awesome combo. If they don't do the gator right, at least I would know how they make the frog legs. wink.gif

Thank you

Should I start another thread, "Reastaurant were they serve Armadillo?" I saw Andrew Zimmern eating one on his show. He said it was delicious, but then again he saids alot of the unusual meals are. So, if it looks good, try it.wink.gif

I've eaten alligator. I thought it was kind of bland. Basically just something to hold batter that you can then dip into something else. IMO, it's a McNugget.

alligator can be really good.
i've seen a lot of people cook it badly.
it is ok fried... but best broiled after slathered in mayo. sounds disgusting? it's not.
armadillo is ok.
tapir and capybara aka jungle rat.... best meat you'll ever taste.
iguana tastes like rattlesnake.

lone cabbage certainly does the best frog legs around.
