Dave D
i would suggest you find a built rod you like, and buy a blank of it. as for reels, i love my daiwa saltist 30.

stripedbassjeff
I know a lot of Sharpies that swear by rainshadows. You could buy spiral no friction point guides for it. Fishing is not my hobie,it's my obsession!
GeneralSwimBait
I use a 10'6 Rainshadow SUR1265 rated 2-6 for a wide range of stuff. The thing has unbelievable response through the entire rod i can feel the slightest bump and setting the hook is almost always a go. Very seldom do i miss when something grabs that rod;) Plugworx508
Dave D
i have a 9' 4" rainshadow conventional, light rod, but it can cast 1 1/2 ounce to 4 ounces no problem. it is lighter then you mentioned, but a tough rod. I never heard of rainshadow until i picked up this one. great rod

bb1
For jigging, I have not found anything even close to the sensitivity of a (Mook) PacBay, Breakaway, or Rainshadow. I use a Rainshadow 1208 SU blank. My Lamiglas XRA 120 5 feels like fiberglass w/ mono compared to the others, but casts much easier. The only conventional reel I would use in the canal now w/ braid is a Daiwa Saltist 20 or 30 (levelwind). "The Further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." hardbait
allstar 1209 if u can find one also check out the cts pj 1008 3-6 oz. its super light, i had all the above and went to lighter blanks, its tough jigging all night with a heavy rod. but u might want to go spinning if your going to throw big plugs also

The 1209 is a real back breaker, even as a spinner.... I take it the CTS blanks are no more 'sensitive' (for jigging) than the Lamiglas, St. Croix or old Kennedy Fisher blanks?
