SteveZ
I've tried the Orvis and the Bean...tired of replacing them every year or so. Even under warranty it is a pain. So...anybody know of a tough, breathable, bootfoot wader???
allen sklar
"tough", breathable, bootfoot wader That is an oxymoron. Ever try Knee boots? Work for me.

So...anybody know of a tough, breathable, bootfoot wader??? Steve: what's been the issues with the Orvis and Bean you've had? Leaking at the seams, tearing, just not holding up in general, warranty service? I've had Beans...Endeavor, as I recall... really don't remember for sure what they are called but I think that's right, and I don't remember exaclty what year I bought 'em, but mine have been good for I think about 3 or 4 years with no leaks/tears or any issues ( I'm probably jinxing myself... I say that now having missed this years Spring run and have not used them since last December.....so next time I put 'em on this Fall they will probably leak ). Mine have just been for my AI sand use about 15 -20 times a year maybe on average, yours may take more of a beating.....but I honestly don't take care of mine well...they sit crumbled up in the back of the truck most of the time for long periods...maybe rinsed them off a few times, but they would have a good excuse to fail the way I treat them IMO. SteveZ
Tom, they just flat wear out too soon. I bought a pair of Bean Emergers last June. Fished 3 weeks in Sep at AI, a week in Nov at the OBX, and this May at AI. After three weeks one leg was leaking at a side seam and the other was leaking at the top of the boot. And not just seeping...h2o was pouring in. Bah. You certainly should get more than that outta a pair of waders. If I get two years I'm happy. But this is nuts. My experience with Orvis was worse, except the customer service was great. But I don't want great customer service...I just want a pair of waders that'll last a couple years. Hoping somebody will come up with something. Mebbe Simms? Or maybe I should just buy a couple pairs of cheapies and toss 'em when they leak. md808
Steve, check out proline waders, mine are 3 years old, used hard and rarely rinsed off , only waders I've had that weren't trashed in a year or less
luckyOC
I have to agree with Allen on the oxymoron comment.... They really don't make them like they used too... seems the last few years, they lost all durability. I have LL bean waders, first the emerger, I sent them back, but i had them long enough that they had no record of the purchase... hmm, these lasted 3 years, and i only had a small leak. I got a credit, and got the rapid river ones.....Seems like the emergers where more 'breathable" but these new ones seem "tougher" and a bit more heavy. haven't started leaking yet I do not come anywhere close waring them as much as you do.... and I live here I have the stocking foot, cause i just ware sandals or aqua socks... hate boots at this point. JC might chime in... he has had his for a while (I try to stay upwind ) .... I think he got them at BPS

GoBow
Had good luck with my Cabelas Dry Plus stocking foot. Keep thinking that each year will be their last, but they keep on ticking... With no leaks. Only down side is finding a suitable shoe to wear with them. Finally found out that open toe sandals work great. Thanks for the tip Marcus!!! An 8 oz sinker and a bunker head will only fly so far...
KOSS
I have a pair of white river fly shop stockingfoot waders from bps. They're on year 3 now and have no leaks. I bought em thinking that I would get a year or two with them and then replace em with simms. I may buy another pair of these instead. And yeah they stink. I'm not easy on equipment. I try to rinse my waders out after each trip but that just doesn't happen. I routinely wipe my hands on my waders after baiting up, which would explain the stink. Well, that and the gas.... If your looking for something comfortable to wear on your feet try a good pair to water shoes.
luckyOC
maybe the bunker juice keeps them water tight.

That sucks Steve...I'd be really "peeved" to have a leak 3 weeks outa the box....I got no suggestions...my Bean Emergers (which I called Endevaours...my mistake...don't know WHERE I got that name from!) have been good. I sure agree with you on the quality vs. customer service thing.....good service helps...but if you sell me a crummy product in the first place, good customer service does not make up for bad goods! Maybe as Koss and Lucky said it's all about the bunker juice...maybe we are rinsing too often! Or maybe the overall manufacturing quality is slipping...I wonder where all the brands are made...USA.....or China....or who knows where... Anybody know? smallbatch9
It seems like the boot type are getting harder and harder to find..........not alot to select from.....i have noticed simms has made a push towards china now with new offerings being imported /cheaper.....they have also discontinued as many made here in the usa............the patagonias seem to get good reviews but no elmer fudd boots available:D..........i have heard the stocking foot type arent so easy to get off.......maybe someone can attest to that
SteveZ
Yup, I gotta have bootfoot. Set in my ways, I am. So far it's looking like Proline or mebbe the Cabelas hunting waders. Hunting waders ought to be tougher and in camo it would be harder for 'em to see me hiding behind the black Ford. Gonna call Bean tomorrow & have 'em send a replacement set but I am determined to find something better. Would like to hear from somebody with Simms bootfoots before I plunk down that much $$.
