Went out yesterday and gave it a whirl on a rare day off during the week. Took a quick look at the Saco dam but didn't make any casts.....not my decision, my buddy was driving and it was on our way to where we were headed. Didn't see any birds working or signs of anything in the water, but we didn't stay too long either. We went down to Camp Ellis, my buddy with the fly rod and myself with a small assortment of lures, but we didn't see much there either. Took several casts on both the river and bay side, Storm rubber shads, 9" black over white Sluggo (unweighted) and a red/white bucktail tipped with an Auger Tail all produced nada. On a brighter note, the 24 hour bait machine at Chevy's seems to be up and working already, though I think the sign said he's gonna be out of worms for a few more days. Good luck out there fellas, sorry I don't have more to report, but it should be anytime now before we're all into fish.
Good to know man, thanks for the head's up. Have ya seen any shad come through yet? I'm thinking we gotta be close at this point, maybe another week or so?
