Cheap Hatch liner

Hi guys, i was strolling around Walmart the other day and i decided to check out the garden center, in front of my eyes appeared what i had been looking for. Its just a flexible tub which fits perfect and will conform to any type hatch and it's a fraction of the price what Hobie charges for their new hatch liner.

This is my Outback with it, i think it will work for preventing stuff from sliding all over the bottom of the yak. Somebody may have already posted something like this but i decided to post anyway.

The thing is that it's a flexible tub and conforms to any shape perfectly. It cost under $5.00. It does come with handles so you need to stick it in to whatever hatch you have and mark the outside with a dark marker and then trim to fit. It certainly beats paying close to $40.00 for a piece of molded plastic from the manufacturer.

Yeah, i recently saw the Hobie hatch liners and they want $59.99 for it, that's insane imo. This tub is flexible(probably a little too much) but it does the job for sure. Glad it helped you Greenford and Bdisanto

Wow, i didn't even consider it fitting in the Revo. I know Ship and Barrel are not very happy about this because they sell Hobies plastic liner. Nothing personal guys but $59.99

I think Hobies a good Company but charging $59.99 for a lightweight piece of plastic is theft, it really is, and they priced it that high because no one has an alternative. Now we do, at least until Walmart discontinues them as soon as they start to sell like they always do.

I noticed if you cut it to close it could fall in so be careful. You could either put something like a towel inside before you push the liner down and this will provide bottom support if needed or i am now working on a few little clips at the top of the liner to prevent it from going too far down if you cut it too short by mistake.

I think i will buy another one but leave two area's of the liner slightly longer so it would be simpler to remove. Maybe where the handles are located i'll leave a little grab area but not to prevent the hatch from closing.

I also filled the hatch with water and it holds it perfectly , the reason for this is because i'm thinking of storing live bait in the front hatch which i made a modified dip net for that will work in getting bait right from the seat. I rigged a little rope to the Outback hatch top(where the black plastic clip is ) the part that accepts the bungee tie down to keep the lid closed.

The rope goes from that connection point through the metal connection (where the front handle is) and back to my right side, when i need bait i pull that rope and the hatch opens up to allow me to scoop up a minnow , when i relax the rope the hatch automatically closes. Just a easy pull on the rope opens and closes the front Hobie hatch at will. It beats having to climb over the drive to access the front hatch
