“The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion dollars for the first 42 presidents — number 43 added $4 trillion dollars by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion dollars of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child,” Obama said on July 3, 2008, at a campaign event in Fargo, N.D.
“That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic,” said candidate Obama.
However, in less than three years in office, Obama has driven up the national debt by $4 trillion himself.
If that is it, it was said during the 2008 campaign. And wow, how times have changed. The failed Messiah has racked up more debt in 3 years that Bush did in 8 with two wars going on. So who is unpatriotic now?
Thanks for posting.
I have said the very same thing, and if we take the parties our of this, IMO, it goes to the core of our problems (oath to party not oath to office being the root of all this mess).
Anyway. he called the ppast fiscal policies unpatriotic not Bush, so the OP has used hyperbole to materially changed context.
As for our current situtaion, it s arguable that the debt incurred under Obama was unavoidable, and the current stability is due in part to the injections, but that was just triage to save the patient. Both the dems and the repubicans have called for reversal of the tax cut and spend more policies of past decades. They just wil not let put their partisanship aside to get the job done. They both have their constitutants to support and so neither side wants to be put at a disadvantage when it comes to who is going to be hurt.
And so the can continues to be kicked.
